7:32 My man here playing 6 over 8 arpeggios on a complex chord progression without even glancing at the guitar, while belting out a pitch perfect vocal

Not to take anything away from Matt but He's been doing the song for a long time and can do the guitar in his sleep lol...

Fun fact: this riff won Q magazine’s riff of the decade. Though I do think Q magazine has a bit of a bias towards Muse haha

They've had Morgan playing live with them since 2004,he originally stood in at 1st on bass,when Chris broke his wrist. He plays any extra layers needed for that particular song. So I've seen him play keys,percussion,guitar.

I witnessed Morgan playing bass for Muse in 2004 at V Festival. The band really didn’t want to pull out of the festival so that’s why they hired Morgan. If it had been a standard gig then they probably would have pulled out. Also Morgan wasn’t officially a part of the live band until 2006. Once Chris was fit to play bass again in 2004, Morgan left.

This song's got a nice groove and when it came out, everyone was blown away by the intro and riff

That concert was in the Rome Olympic Stadium but not in the olympics, the olympics in Rome were in 1960 XDDDD Muse played in the London 2012 closing ceremony. And yes, they're three but live they have a keyboard/guitar/percussion/backing vocals player, but he's always a bit hidden. All the focus are in the official members of the band.

You used the word "good" alot in the review. Think what you meant to say was...it's as "good" as it gets!!! The vocals, the guitar, the tune, the TALENT. Probably caught you off guard.

As a Muse Fan I totally agreed with you. This song is pretty simple, and for concerts it works, however, there are far better songs in the lyrics departament. As always thank you for staying true to yourself and your criteria 7.6 is pretty solid in your chart. Cheers!

His vocals are inspired on Jeff Buckley's. This song was their great first hit, back in 2001, from their second album. It's not the most complex of their songs, but it's a very good and solid rock song. Very catchy riff and nice melodic verse, bridge and chorus. My favorite Muse song is "Stockholm Syndrome" from their third album. For me, the best rock song of this century.

I’ve heard from many different people that Matt uses no vocal technique while singing. His voice is just pure emotion of the lyrics.
@Dan-os9kg2 жыл бұрын
Definitely a touch of hypocrisy in the review in my opinion. You complain that Matt/Muse aren't playing to the audience or really getting them involved but in this song he's literally running as he plays the intro, involves the crowd with the chorus, plays the fills/solo whilst singing and closing his eyes. I think this is a great, crowd pleasing anthem but you didn't seem impressed. Bit bizarre imo

Muse is an odd band. One of the biggest bands certainly in Europe, maybe in the world...except in the US. They can have 60,000+ people singing their songs (even the guitar riffs!) in an Italian stadium, then come to the USA on a small club tour. We're just not their market. They're one of my favorites though.
@nerea43273 жыл бұрын
This is when of their most popular songs, mainly for the riff. But yeah, they were high on shrooms while making this and even Bellamy admits he doesn't know what he's singing about. It's a classic and it's great live, but they have far better songs.
@robhaunui33433 жыл бұрын
Love Muse,been a fan since I got their first EP back in '98. This is their first big breakthrough number,and my favourite Muse song,but this performance certainly isn't my favourite (too much theatrics - there I said it),and I much prefer earlier performances of this song,so all in all,you pretty much gave it the score that it deserved.
@grahamkey84963 жыл бұрын
Agreed this was the first song that brought Muse to my attention. Not sure what's wrong with this performance - it could be the mix, or the performance or a bit of both.
@miralex673 жыл бұрын
This version is great because of the crowd but the studio version could help you more in this song. It's a song of 2001 and this live is from 2013 and Muse can't deliver the exact feeling of this song here

Love your reactions and review, but agree that this is not one of the best videos to react to when it comes to Muse as there are many better examples! Would love to see you react to Rolo Tomassi, they are this amazing band from the UK who have been around for ages and hardly anyone knows about them. Definitely Recommend ROLO TOMASSI - Contretemps *Live* @ SCALA 09.11.18
