Lyrics Is our secret safe tonight And are we out of sight Or will our world come tumbling down? Will they find our hiding place Is this our last embrace Or will the walls start caving in? It could be wrong, could be wrong, but it should have been right It could be wrong, could be wrong, to let our hearts ignite It could be wrong, could be wrong, are we digging a hole? It could be wrong, could be wrong, this is out of control It could be wrong, could be wrong, it can never last It could be wrong, could be wrong, must erase it fast It could be wrong, could be wrong, but it could have been right It could be wrong, could be... Love is our resistance They'll keep us apart and they won't stop breaking us down Hold me Our lips must always be sealed If we live a life in fear I'll wait a thousand years Just to see you smile again Quell your prayers for love and peace You'll wake the thought police We can't hide the truth inside It could be wrong, could be wrong, but it should have been right It could be wrong, could be wrong, to let our hearts ignite It could be wrong, could be wrong, are we digging a hole? It could be wrong, could be wrong, this is out of control It could be wrong, could be wrong, it can never last It could be wrong, could be wrong, must erase it fast It could be wrong, could be wrong, but it could have been right It could be wrong, could be... Love is our resistance They'll keep us apart and they won't stop breaking us down Hold me Our lips must always be sealed The night has reached its end We can't pretend We must run We must run It's time to run Take us away from here Protect us from further harm Resistance!

Always felt that this one was rly underrated in terms of the technicality. Dom's drumming is sharp and elaborate the whole way through, and the bass during the "We must run" part is imo one of the hardest sections to play in all of Muse's discography. Love that they've been pulling this one out for the WOTP tour as it's a great example of how technically talented these three are

I was casually reading 1984 while listening to my usual playlist, and this song comes on and here I am actually listening to the lyrics and I hear "you'll wake the thought police" I'm like woah wait a sec... I keep listening and there are so many references to the book so ofc I google it and this song was based on the book and here I am freaking out and none of my friends really listen to muse or have read the book so I can't freak out with them...
@sezzac1559 жыл бұрын
+Ashley Montan I found out about the connection to 1984 when this song was first released. The year before, i studied the book for school. I had the same reaction as you and freaked out and i haven't really stopped...Muse really are awesome. :)

That's awesome- I want to read 1984 now!
@SunnyFlower59 жыл бұрын
+Ashley Montan - An oldie here, read 1984 years ago when a mere teenager, stayed with me ever since… there's been many references to it over the years, plus now it's got scary as we have many of those 'fictional' systems in place, our newspapers are monitored, tv news controlled, most wars reported via propaganda controlled by govs, most people have mobile phones that have auto-tracking systems on them (whether you turn it off or not!), card payment systems that follow you (Oystercards, etc), even store cards (0.0001p back ones) that track your every move - then TV now being cable/satellite/broadband which also tracks what you view, most people on computers logging into somewhere (all trackable), Facebook, Twitter, other social media… I could go on for pages, 1984 is here, never doubt it! Problem is most of the 'systems' are friendly, easy to use and save us time so people happily walk into them. Unfortunately a lot of people only realise what's occurring if they're read the book or seen the film. There are many who realise anyway from being aware but we all need a cattle prod to awaken our suspicion; as they say, if it looks too good to be true, it isn't good ;)

Or will the walls start caving in? [Hook] It could be wrong, could be wrong, but it should have been right It could be wrong, could be wrong, to let our hearts ignite It could be wrong, could be wrong, are we digging a hole? Woah. funny coincidence * everyone talks about 1984 * * I'm intensely curious about 1984 * * gets obsessed with Danisnotonfire, who happens to love muse and briefly mentions this song * * Finally finds 1984 and reads it * * sees a comment mentioning that this song is based off of 1984, listened to it, and could pretty much completely understand all the references. * yay. Everything in the world is connected. O.o :p

The " I like older music better than today's, why was I born in the wrong generation" comment. Every video of music from the past has at least a couple. Except you wrote this SIX years after the music video came out. "These days"?? You're comparing this to classical music...? O.o Are you a 10 year old reminiscing about being four?
