I feel like the biggest test with a small setup is to ditch the rack tom too, since then you have to be clever with your stickings if you want to move back from the floor tom to snare. Maybe you could give that a go and see what you come up with? :)

Charlie Lord well most people don't operate in that fashion and I just want this to be as relatable as possible, so that pretty much anyone with a kit will use this setup as a minimum, but I could do that for a song or two or something. Just gotta pick something it makes sense for!

you should do a back to the basics with a beginner kit and zht or zbt cymbals... to really bring it way back

TheGreatWhodini Eeeeh you can easily get a used set of the cymbals in the video for the same price as a new set of ZBTs (and I know which I'd pick). Also ride cymbals from cheaper series are usually heavy as balls - gives them a nice, bright ping but means they don't really crash too well. :)
