Very helpful information!! I use the chord symbols to help me 'sketch' my idea, but I never thought about having those play back as anything but piano. This is a quick way to bring some pads into a composition.

I'm really liking Musescore 4. What an upgrade from Musescore 3. Huge upgrade.

It really is very impressive. Just a pity that so many features were lost due to the building from scratch process. So it's worth having both MS 3 and MS 4 for now.

I dont know how to load vst into musecore 4 at the beginning. I downloaded and installed it today. And i have only know to download muesounds. Please teach me to load vst plugins as like as kontakt, 😢
@mccoydtromb6 ай бұрын
Hi. This video is pretty good with showing you how to load VSTs in MuseScore. Unless you're asking how to download other VSTs, in which case, go to the relevant website. If you're looking for Kontakt and VSTs that work with Kontakt, you'll probably want the Native Instruments website, and then you can get extra instruments from various places including Native Instruments and Spitfire Audio. But most of these (including Kontakt) are not free. So my recommendation would be to google search Free VST instruments or use the Spitfire Labs, start with some of those like in this video and work your way up from there. Hope this helps.

The dynamics change the volume of the flute part - but the volume of the VST chords remain the same. Is there any way the > < can change the VSTs ?
@mccoydtromb Жыл бұрын
You could make a new instrument, assign the vst to that instrument, then use the Realise chord symbols function on that instrument. Then apply dynamics to that instrument. I would only use chord symbols with VST instruments for sketching, not for a full composition.

now we only need the piano roll back in musescore, that'd be great

Is MuseScore 4.3.2 really free? Or does it have a lifespan and/or some things that it prevents you from doing? Thanks!
@mccoydtromb4 ай бұрын
It really is free. The programme is open source, and as far as I know that can never change. The parent company Muse Group makes money from MuseScore.com, the score sharing website, and more recently by selling effects and some premium instrument sounds for musescore and audacity. But as far as I know, because of the open source licence, they can never make musescore a paid-for application!

What OS do you use? VSTs with MuseScore on Linux is problematic. Some sources say it is not implemented yet, others say it's possible but the way they explain it is extremely complex and time consuming. I don't want to spend days only to find that out it doesn't work. By the way, sfz soundfonts are also not available in MuseScore4 for Linux, they were in version 3. Another good reason not to upgrade to MuseScore4.

I am indeed on windows. Yes, I have heard that VSTs on Linux are problematic, and with sfz so unpacks only available through a VST wrapper I can understand your frustration. I haven't checked for a while, but I thought I remembered someone saying that Linux was attempting to get VST working...

You didnt explain about the process to show vst3 instruments in mixer. Please explain the process
@mccoydtromb6 ай бұрын
Hi. When you install the VSTs, next time you open MuseScore it will automatically show up as an option in the mixer. Click the instrument to change the instrument sound, then go to VST3 and the new VST instruments should show up there.

@@mccoydtromb sir , as well experienced person with musescore , can you please tell , which are the supported vst plugins? Please mention their names then i can download them without any convenience. And that will be a great help for people like me. i am new for this software. I used sibelius in the past and that was so different than this musecore software. 🙏🙏🙏

Unfortunately VSTs are not supported in Linux version of Musescore 4 yet. It's one of the features due to be added in the next release if I recall correctly.
