MORE ABOUT ASKOSH
The Alaska Occupational Safety and Health Consultation and Training Section (AKOSH C&T) offers free and confidentialconsultation and training services designed to help employers recognize and control potential safety and health hazards at their worksites, improve their safety and health program, assist in training employees.
By using our services, employers may qualify for a one-year exemption from routine Alaska Occupational Safety and Health enforcement inspections while they work with AKOSH C&T. Our services are primarily for smaller businesses in high hazard industries, where the highest rates of injuries and illnesses occur.
AKOSH C&T Consultants can:
• Travel to worksites to help identify hazards
• Make suggestions to fix recognized hazards
• Provide tools to help develop a written safety and health program
• Provide free on-site monitoring of noise, vapors, fumes, and particulates
• Conduct free or low-cost training specific to a business’s needs
Following a worksite consultation visit, AKOSH C&T provides a confidential written report for the employer, including recommendations to help them improve safety and health programs.
Since this service is voluntary, Alaska businesses must initiate a Request for Consultation and Training Services, which is linked here.
An OSHA document further explaining the Consultation and Training Program may be found here: www.osha.gov/sites/default/files/publications/factsheet-consultations.pdf
