Museum of Kysuce Village and Historic Forest Railway in Vychylovka 4K

Portal turisticky.sk cordially invites you to visit the Museum of the Kysuce Village and the Historic Forest Headland Railway in Vychylovka.
The historic forest headland railway is a preserved and operated part of the former Kysuce-Orava forest railway. From a technical point of view, it is interesting due to its headland system, which made it possible to overcome a large height difference in a short distance. It is the only headland system in Europe and for this very reason it was declared a National Cultural Monument of the Slovak Republic in 1991. The railway operates during seasonal operation in the months of May to October.
The Museum of the Kysuce Village in Nova Bystrica - Vychylovka is a permanent exhibition in nature, which is one of the most extensive in Slovakia. The exhibition contains more than 30 residential, economic, social, technical and religious buildings. The museum was established in 1974 to save precious monuments from the flooded villages of Riečnica and Harvelka, which fell victim to the construction of the Nová Bystrica water reservoir.
During the season, visitors can see demonstrations of the work of craftsmen, performances by folklore groups, ensembles from the Kysuce region and the preparation of traditional dishes.
