Hi, there is a lot to see for sure , unfortunately like everywhere covid has killed our overseas tourist industry, hopefully my channel will give you a few snippets in the meantime. I’m based in Auckland our largest city (not big by world standards) with 1.6m people actually about a third of the entire population !
Yes not too shabby place to live, a sort of mini Sydney with its harbour. Over the years I've been to all the big cities on the east coast and lived in Sydney in 1980 when I was studying at UNI NSW. I've driven from the bottom of Victoria up to north of Brisbane which is one of those things that gives one a hint of the sense of scale between the two countries. I think NZ would fit into NSW 4x. I think a lot of people world wide don't appreciate the size of Aussie.

Have not been able to visit MOTAT for a while. Great place to visit again since the things have been hugely changed since last visit.

Hi, I'm sure you would enjoy the aircraft part and the free tram rides, trams used to run up and down most of Auckland main routes including on the north shore .

Great museum! They’ve got a very large collection - Nice to learn that they now have funding to store and maintain the items. Looking at the trans portion makes me happy they are preserving this for the kids, since things are really changing fast! 👌👍
@Chris-NZ3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jennifer, it took me multiple trips to put this together , the first one was on a Sunday in the school holidays , lots of kids :) As with a number of places I think they survive financially with a lot of "school trips", twice when I've been there there have been quite big groups from schools obviously on a day out . I saw this again last week when I was out filming in a Historic Village. Yes very glad they have funding, prior to that it was an uphill battle, my neighbour back in the 80's and 90's was a volunteer and they were always trying to raise funds. There is actually a big collection of trains stored out the back of the big aviation collection but these are only brought out on special occasions so I didn't get to see any.

Well if you like this sort of thing you’d be right at home. 😀 there’s also a big steam train collection but it only comes out occasionally.
