Dear Afroz, The only clarification I can "personally" give you is that I remember my mum doing it on Fridays.. :) According to what I know for certain is that the majority of the Parsis (in Mumbai,India) definitely do it on Fridays. However, there are many other versions of this story and I have also heard about this as a Muslim tradition. Do investigate more and let us know about your family's take on doing it on Wednesdays.. Regarding your question, "what day is correct for doing this and how long for?" I am afraid I really have no specific answer. But personally speaking.. recollecting this story, realising all the connections of cause and effect and trying to soak-in its essence has always had a "healing" effect on me. Afroz Muskil Asaan days are done on Tues and Fridays - How long? A question I myself had asked a few years ago.Each prayer is valid & do them whenever you find the need to do so. The mushkil asaan days are Tues & Fri. Hope this helps.

Is this considered the Mushkil Asaan prayer? This is a story, not a prayer, like a traditional prayer Ashem Vohu, Yatha Ahu Vario, etc. etc. If I want to do the Mushkil Asaan prayer on Fridays is it the story that I should recite or actually pray Behram Yasht? I speak Gujrati but can I do it in English. I would light a divo but do I have to have the food also? By the grace of God I am comfortable, not wealthy but comfortable. My need to start doing this prayer (which I have heard about but never before done) is to bring unity within my family and improve relationships

Dear Vera, My family has always considered this 'story' as a prayer.. I hope you can understand that.. If you consider reciting the Bible (a book of many stories) as prayer.. then it should be easy to see my point.. Also many songs/bhajans = prayer. Meditation, and just plain wishing well for all could also be considered prayer.. I am not an authoritative figure on the actual Zoroastrian Avesta Prayers so I suggest you forward your question, namely, "If I want to do the Mushkil Asaan prayer on Fridays is it the story that I should recite or actually pray Behram Yasht?" to a dastoorji../ priest.. You can try - facebook.com/ErvadKaranjia/ But on a personal level, if I may express.. if you feel like reciting the Behram Yasht then you should just do it.. Similarly, if you feel that the diva is all you require, and no need for the chana, kopra and sugar/kahjur.. then what could be wrong with that.. Vera, in case you are interested in Avesta prayer, for Behram yazad, you can pray Behram Yasht from any Avesta book. Behram Yazad gives victory over evil and helps the worshipers in in times of difficulty. Hence, the name Mushkil Asan Behram Yazad.

In my family we pray some of our prayers from Kemna Mazdao and till Tandaroshti and then relate the story. Also we offer some chana, kismis, khajoor, copru, sakar accompanied by deevo and ending with agarbatti and use kanku as well. As you pray peel the roasted chana and say in that way remove our mushkelli.

It is an alien practice and was never practiced during the sassanian time when our religion was at its peak. Do pray to behram yazad , light a diva , burn incense . Last fifty years this practice has started. To each his own but definitely not a Zoroastrian practice.
