Yes! I used to LOVE rap music. I had a playlist on Apple Music of over 300 songs that I listened to frequently and was always adding to it. One day, some time after giving my life to Christ, I played my music and felt extremely convicted by the lyrics. I’m very particular about the music I listen to now. I don’t listen to much secular music now because it just feels so empty, I don’t know how to describe it.

KB: "Armies" and "Let it reign" Lecrae: "Zombie" and "Gravity" (Gravity is album name, but there's a song called gravity) Trip Lee: "All Rise up" and "Billion years" Mali Music: "Let go" and "Fight for you" I just named you two songs from each artist you can check if you want. Songs are Christ centered so don't worry about it! Ofcourse, if you feel like it's time to give up on rap music for good so be it then, but not all rap music is bad music in a sense that's going to make your relationship with Christ worse. God bless!

As a 19 year old who is obsessed with music I would listen to all the secular artists you could think of Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Rihanna etc and I remember my dad always reminding me to listen to Christian content and telling me that you are what you feed your soul, some time back I bumped into a KZbin video of exposing the secular industry and they were playing all these famous songs backwards and to say I was creeped out is an understatement the lyrics were so demonic and scary I was so disgusted that I used to sing along to such dark music. Ever since my dad has been guiding me to my path of salvation... It's not easy but Jesus said that the gateway to heaven is like a pinhole and not everyone will go through and my only prayer is I live right and seek His kingdom for the greater reward in heaven

I remember my flesh used to feel so good whenever I would listen to secular music, and I would have crazy imaginations of me being rich, and having all these things that I ever wanted, I used to imagine things, because I've never had those things, so I would imagine having them, and every time I would get done listening to secular music, I felt convicted, like I felt guilty, because I knew it was wrong to listen to it, but I still was listening to it because it felt good to my flesh. If you are struggling to stop listening to secular music, keep striving and letting God fight this battle, just face it, yes it's hard, but with God it's too easy

Back in 2019, I received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior but even tho I had gotten saved I was still smoking weed and still living in the world. I went to a music festival called California Roots that same year in Monterey, CA with my then girlfriend (who today is now my wife). On the last day of the music festival we were watching an artist named Tash Sultana who is a very talented multi-instrumentalist and singer and she has a somewhat psychedelic sound to her music. During her set me and my wife were high and I felt really uneasy during her set. Everyone around us was obviously under the influence of some drug or psychedelic because every one around us were like zombies and I can see everyone just swaying back and forth like they were being hypnotized. Suddenly there was a silence in my mind and the Holy Ghost came upon me and warned me to be careful what type of music you listen to because you don’t know whether the music can be coming from the Holy Spirit or demonic spirits. The week after we returned home from our trip I got baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and have since then been delivered from smoking weed and I only listen to Christian music. Only recently this year in 2022 me and my wife started smoking weed in March and it was about maybe 3 or 4 months and we were delivered a second time from smoking weed. I pray that this testimony will bless someone.

I remember I never used to listen to rap because of the lyrics talking about bad things, until I found Christian rap. It’s so easy to find yourself listening deceitful lyrics because the world is full of it- from tiktok trends, to what a store plays. It’s so important to have a sober mind and seek what is right, and that counts for your music choices as well!! I try to stray from songs that are not for God’s word. I used to listen to a lot of rap and pop music. In the past 3 years, I’ve been listening to jazz, Latin jazz, and instrumental stuff, along with bethel music and maverick city ❤

I am glad I heard this video from you. I have heard you say multiple times that "music" cant be Christian, etc. I was always concerned by that statement until I watched this. I feel music generes don't box Christian music in. Christian music spans all genres. I like a lot of styles of music, but have grown to appreciate that what we put into our minds and take root and grow. We must be very careful what we see and listen to. Thank you again for sharing! You're a blessing...
