I’ve played in orchestra so I understand that there’s a lot of moving parts to make something sound beautiful, but what Sawano does that is so genius is the most genuine and purest form of the word cacophony. There’s a lot of harshness in the many little sounds and instruments that are brought together to make something truly beautiful. Every instrument’s sound shines in the composition and you can hear that with how the melodies come together. He really puts on a masterclass of composing, one of the greatest modern composers in my opinion!

Tony, you've gotta watch the show. From someone who is pretty new to anime, it's just incredible and I never thought an anime could grasp my heart (and adrenal glands) with such force and vigour. It's gritty, challenging, white-knuckle, beautifully imperfect and well worth your time

Couldn't disagree more. I don't understand when people says that AoT is only great becoz sawano is behind the music, when in fact it goes hand in hand. Composers can create moving music and great one's like this because they have a story to tell. And on this anime its the plot of AOT. Compare this ost to the other ost that sawano had made and you can tell that this is one of his personal best creation. And why is that? Because of how great the story was created by isayama. Another one with great moving ost from sawano would be the Blue Dragon, which again had a great storyline.

Sawano Composing is absolute godlike. He's the Hans Zimmer of the eastern room with ppl like kohta yamato :D. Every Qualityaspect in the Animeshow Aot is maximized, so best possible Artstyle, Animation; Sountrack compositions for certain moments; Voice actors, Storyline. And if you like western shows like GOT and so on, Aot is like the same genre but has better ratings per episode :D This Music is btw connected with the story and foreshadowed events 8years before they appeared in the Anime. Most of the Soundtracks mika kobayashi is singing are in german lyrics built through symbolic foreshadows :D Get that Artwork on your KZbinchannel as a reaction :p

AoT is such a unique experience. Not only is it the best series of all time, but it has the music to back it up. It's one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard. I used to love Hans Zimmer growing up, but now? Swano is just pure genuis, I love that he incorperates a lot of rock, metal and electronic styles into his pieces. While the music is perfect on its own, I think watching the series with the music makes it 10x as impactful.

One more thing , you said music is too good that it's pulling you to watch the show, trust me I also went because of the music, Season 1 - the music is great , the story is good but not great S2- story starts progressing S 3- this is were story becomes great from good solid 9+/10 S4- now it's just never stoo and this show has turned into something which you would have never imagined at S1. Hiroyuki sawano (composer) and Hajime isayama (the author) are just great in their work and together they make attack in Titan reach heights (and the animation is great too) Definitely a must watch experience .

Tbh in term of story wise, I would rate s1 - a solid 8.5, especially due to e1, e5 all kind of mindblowing plot twist at the beginning s2 - 9, it took them 4 years of production after s1 released, "the revelation of traitor", "the commander charging despite being attack", and "the romance while bad ending seem happening scene until plot twist appear", all these brilliant scenes push AoT to another level. s3p1 - 8, This is Isayama least favourite arc among the series as he told in an interview because it involved a lot of politic isssues in it, but still that Levi vs Kenny moment is epic, and the Historia bad girl moment is the core of this arc. s3p2 - 9.5, The first time ever most heartbreaking and torning moment in this series which beautifully executed, that alone outshine the first three season. s4p1 - 8.5, They reestablished the story with a new perspective by introducing the antagonist side with protagonist approach and even do the exact same deed back on them to trigger our reconsideration about endless cycle of revenge and antiwar issue. s4p2 - 9.5 No doubt this is the best so far in the series before the final part release. Almost 90% of the set up, hinting, easter since s3p2 and s4p1finally come to the revelation here, while it still prepping a greater final plot twist for the upcoming final part.

Truly this video did a good job of capturing at most some 50% of the musical ideas presented in all the soundtracks. I love the fact that the composer made it because it gives people who have less time a quick way of getting to hear a lot of it. If you listen to the albums, especially the season 2 and 3 albums, there is so much interplay between the different melodic ideas and songs, that you really get an even higher perception of his genius. Guy truly made something eternal here.
