Yeah, the band Maximum Hormone hasn't released al album or single in quite a while, so most of their more recent songs being used for either commercials or anime themes are only that, they don't have a full version yet. If we were to wait for an album release to get the full version, then we really might be waiting for quite a long time.

I am Japanese, and when I first heard this song, I laughed. It is a very hormone song. The lyrics in the middle of the song made me laugh out loud at the Japanese onomatopoeia that describes the blood and flesh splattering into a mess. Of course, coolness is the underlying laughter.

This is my favorite Japanese band they are called Maximum the Hormone. They did the 2nd Death Note opening which you should check out at some point. They are commonly described as the Japanese System of a Down which is an appropriate title but they have influences from multiple other bands such as Tool, RHCP and Pantera. They like to cycle through multiple genres of music within their songs and they do a good job of it. The bassist is a huge Flea fan so their bass work on songs are really well done

@WardOfSouls

I agree with everything you put here, with just one small addition. The outro brings us back to the driving bass riff of the first part, with a guttural scream that suggests a build up back to the second part. Taking the themes you used, it's like a foreshadowing that his life is going to follow these four emotional states that the song described up to this point. Granted, I'm an anime only as well, so no idea if this is where the story will actually go, but it's definitely a very emotive shape described through the style of the song.

As someone who read the manga, it definitely feels like the course of the track is reflective of the course of the story. Without getting too specific, it has a lot of tonal shifts that are very sudden. I wouldn't be surprised if they were trying to channel the various different tonal feelings of the story and put it into musical form.
@gamgam7979
@gamgam7979 Жыл бұрын
I completely agree. Spoilers from here I guess (minor, just discussing the general progression) The beginning perfectly represents the ominous feeling of denji pretty much growing up with a devil, and then the transition to denji’s life at the first part of the manga, just senseless, angry violence. Then there’s a brief moment of semi-peace, or at least happiness in his personal life, and then that last verse is so reminiscent of common anime openings during a revenge/war arc, which applies well to the end of part one.

I'm so glad you went over this one! This was my favorite one and blew my mind how crazy good it was. I liked it because I dont usually watch anime and this was the first time ive heard a heavy metal band in a different language. Love the reviews!

These videos have been awesome man. And one tidbit at the end that I think lends to the awesomeness of this band/song. Is that the woman you hear singing at the end is their drummer and she's doing both at once like a badass.

I would say the ability to stay in a way cohesive and yet very chaotic is what gets me with this song. I also love how it perfectly blends with the animation of the credits.

heard it, immediately loved it. i am not well versed enough in music to even start on what about it makes it tick and click and fit for me, but i am someone who loves Jrock, Jpop and sweet voices. to hear all three mesh together so well in a 1 min 30 s ed blew my mind and swept me off my feet is all i can say. hype from start to finish, cannot stop replaying. many thanks for your explanation!

this is my favorite chainsaw man ending by far! even the newest one from episode 4 doesn't top this, and that's because of the combination of the visuals and the song. both are very amazing pieces of work, and putting them together is an incredible experience. one of my favorite things about it is just how consistent the mood shifts are and how it always feels like it's escalating to something bigger.

The reason i liked the ending is how well it portrays both the nature of Chainsaw Man and Denji's journey(spoilers ahead) The first part is obviously a nod to the first episode. I assume it picks up from the moment Pochita replaces his heart. He wakes up and realizes his friend is gone and that, or perhaps every horror he's endured till now, is the fault of those in front of him. All his negative feelings well inside him and he pulls the string, releasing all of it. The chaotic mess, concentrated negativity sounds like barely comprehensive cacaphony until a somewhat coherent tune forms and he lashes out. Then suddenly it's stopped by Makima, the very first ray of hope in his life and his first love. The melody sounds soothing and warm but even then there's sinister undertones to it, it's almost like the voice is lying to you. Then with newfound hope he moves forward as if none of that happened, only to eventually loop back to the chaos he emerged from. This is a perfect representation of the famed "chainsaw man pacing" and perfectly fits the series.

The thing is, the song kinda represents all 3 of the characters and their multiple different relationships with Denji. He is jumping from different emotions soo rapidly and the song literally shows them. Connecting with the visuals, it's actually sooo well done

Something that has not been mentioned about this song is how visually beautiful the lyrics are. I dont mean sonically, but quite literally they are structured beautifully in written text. The band posted a video on their youtube channel just showing the lyrics. I recommend checking that out to any who haven’t

i love this band so much, Maximum the Hormone is hands down one of the coolest nu-metal bands out there. Highly reccomend their music! I love this band because they are not afraid to break any convention or are bound by genres, they have a very genuine feeling to their music. And this song in particular is doing some really fun things, i love the chaos and energy shift, its just very fitting for chainsawman.

The first complete tonal shift when it went super soft felt like it was trying to be soothing but had this haunting undertone to it and (Im not a manga reader so no spoilers) thats kinda also the vibe i get from Makima (the character shown on screen during that) so far which is pretty cool

Your videos are really awsome, Thank you! I've been playing saxophone for little over half a decade now but Im still only 18 and havent learned much music theory, so my knowledge is very limited to that of my instrument. I want to learn more but I never take my time to learn cuz I have so many other interests (Like watching anime hehe). But with your videos I can enjoy anime content and also learn and get inspired by an amazing teacher at the same time! Thank you so much for making these videos. Keep up the good work!

@@DrumRollTonyReacts you really should check out the song “Yoshū Fukushū” by Maximum the Hormone. This song summarize what kind of band they are. I really want to watch you dissect the song like you usually do. Nao Kawakita is the drummer of the band, and as a woman, she influenced many Japanese female drummers like Akane of BAND-MAID or Tamu of NEMOPHILA. I saw MTH this summer in Paris and the live performance was phenomenal. Thank you Tony PS: Does anyone told you that you look a little bit like Gianluigi Buffon? 😄

It's funny that you mention Bossanova. I listened to a lot of Bossanova growing up, and I never would have made that connection until you mentioned it. 3:30 With the opening, I also noticed there's a Didgeridoo present, with a descending "breath" at the start. It's a bit drowned out in the second part, but is still there hovering along with the electronic choir.

I think if anything this ending is just a really great representation of the kind of show CSM is, I think you'll definitely agree once you get around to watching it too. Each of the (three?) styles this song swaps between sort of represents the different aspects of the show itself really well. I'm a big fan of a lot of metal but generally not too into 'screamo' vocals, yet for some reason this ED just really works for me - the first part might even be my favourite. Think it's something to do with the lead singer's voice and how insane the instrumental is, it's almost so 'in your face' that it wraps back around to being really enjoyable to listen to for me somehow.
