Yeah sudden giving a drop of drumroll in the part is kinda out of nowhere but it's fit so well n this kinda rare on music of this days or even back then in "mainstream common music in any genre" so it's fun. . N the most fun there's a lot of variety but blend so well, and yeah there's musician who doesn't like a bunch of variety as well in the 1 music bcs the vibe of music changes so fast n can't be predicted, but musician or people who love with music n hear bunch of them, n can see what's mainstream pattern of the beat n rhytm from bass drum n licks from guitar etc. . A bunch of variety is kinda good for took us surprised bcs we can't read what's music gonna flows so we get the surprised. (If they can blend so well) . But if they can't, this bunch variety will kill them for sure. . But for people and musician who love (can read n predict the music flows of the beat rhytm pattern) will not like music with a lot of stuff, bcs the indication of music who can't be predict's a messed bcs they go in anywhere (not stay in the 1 theme genre root of the pattern) . I'm the people who love a bunch of variety, rather than "strict" following the pattern. Just following the pattern it's boring. Ofc it's had a positive such as easy to memorize etc. But if u alrd hear a lot of music like that, it's boring, bcs it's alrd in anywhere mostly in major label music. so hearing bunch of variety and blend so well n can't predict the flow of music is good and feel the freshness

Suisei’s drummers man, her songs really put them to work. Stellar Stellar for one also goes ham with it. I’m not a drummer or musician but definitely a big appreciator (lmao I’m stunted and never really got into it despite being passionate about it; college did a number on me). I relate to your ear on drums and bass because that’s also where my ears gravitate to (the beat basically) and Sui-chan’s songs are always on point with it!

As a massive fan of Vtubers, and a personal fan of Suisei's, and even further as a lover of drumming and percussion, I fully appreciate your thoughts on this song. Don't worry about the pauses to analyze and absorb certain segments. I can't speak for everyone, but I appreciate your input, for what that's worth. I think a lot of the feeling of not wanting to pause comes from that desire to catch your raw, unedited reaction to the song all in one shot, as some of the pacing for both you and the viewer is lost on pauses. I'm sure you're well aware that people are very dedicated to their favorite songs, and they want to see you get dive in and get swept away by the song full on that first listen. If I could make one suggestion as an Idea I don't think I've seen anyone try yet, is to record your reaction to the song in its entirety first, then record your analysis and breakdown after. Then when editing the video, show the opposite with the analysis first and the raw reaction after. This might help save retention while still offering the viewer that raw reaction moment. There may be reason's I'm not considering on why this isn't done. I'd like to know what people think about this in particular if anyone wants to leave a reply.

This was really cool. When I listen to this song it’s so much about Suisei, her voice and the lyrics she wrote (which if you look them up are very personal to her and her story). I’ve always been aware that I like listening to the music too, but still I really appreciate a breakdown like this kinda highlighting all the moving pieces in the arrangement that I don’t actively think about as much. Would love to see reactions to more Suisei (I really like a somewhat less recommended song of hers called Kakero, which has a great drum line). Also would love to see other Hololive talents gets this treatment. Maybe something like Mori Calliope’s recent track Six Feet Under.

'GHOST' was the song that put Suisei "on the map", as they say, for me. I was a vTuber fan already (well, Hololive only actually) for quite some time, and had seen many comments praising her singing, but didn't really pay attention until this piece released. Have been her fan ever since, even though I prefer Tokoyami Towa's voice more. Just like everyone else has said already, I would enjoy you checking out Suisei's 'TEMPLATE' and 'Stellar Stellar' songs, even though I am not musically inclined enough to tell if you'd actually find them interesting. From Towa's side, I would say 'ANEMONE' and 'My Roar' are cool. Thanks for the video!

While musically this track is very nice overall (though admittedly still not the type I'd go out of my way to listen to on my own), quite many people often like to point to it as an example of why Suisei "Is so great as an artist/at singing" and I'm just not hearing it. Like, the vocal line in the song is not bad, but it's nothing particularly amazing either. She might have a good voice, but whoever is making songs for her for the most part really seems to either just be sort of using her popularity to boost the (more important to him) music's success itself, or at most, using her singing much more like an obligatory background to the music as opposed to making her singing be an actual *centerpiece* in many of the tracks... at least that's the feeling I'm getting from those I've heard 'from her' so far.
@munkii5176
@munkii5176 Жыл бұрын
Difficult to make this point for her other tracks, as she has different producers and artists for almost all of them. "Ghost" definitely isn't as vocal forward as tracks like "Stellar Stellar" and "Planetarium", but this was still relatively early on for Suisei. It was one of her first tracks to do really really well, and it's mainly because her voice is, like Tony said, able to support the musical complexity without getting lost in it.
@b0unce805
@b0unce805 Жыл бұрын
L take. There were several points in this song that displayed vocal skill, but they’re just not as blatant as in some of her other songs. The producers did a real good job balancing the vocals and band overall in the mix. This is why the song overall is such a hit because everything is working together. If the vocals are too far forward, then the music is often overlooked or lackluster. If the music is too far forward, then it won’t catch a main stream audience. The fact that this song got as popular as it did, is proof that everything is working as it should.
@TheCardinalBiggles42
@TheCardinalBiggles42 Жыл бұрын
You may not know this but 90% of the original songs released by these agency vtubers are paid for out-of-pocket by the talents themselves. The agency offers an allowance of something like $5-10k per project, which doesn't cover much. This means the talents have creative control of their projects. They choose the producers, musicians and mixers to work with, and they have ultimate say on the final product, which is all to say that the self-interested producer you're imagining is probably Suisei herself. I think what it comes down to is misinterpreting a choice of restraint. As DrumRollTony said in the video, the vocal was strong enough to allow the band to breathe and go off. Every part of the band had a moment in the spotlight, including some key sections where the vocals shined brightest. I won't try to claim that Suisei is the best vocalist ever - she is very talented, but more importantly she's a good musician. Her performance wasn't too little but it also wasn't too flashy or too much. It's a decision to do what works best for the track rather than trying to show off, which is a telltale sign of good musicianship. That choice might not have been to your taste but that's okay, people don't have to all like the same things.

My favorite singer is definitely Ado (and it’d be cool to see more from her on your channel) but Suisei is a close second, I’m so happy to see her here! Suisei is part of a vtuber group called Hololive, while I think that you wouldn’t be interested by most of their activities, they have some amazing singers! I won’t list all of them because there are really a lot of great singers there lol, but I’ll leave my suggestion of checking out Tokoyami Towa, I’d recommend Anemone (a recent song coming from her), Palette (her first original song, it’s beautiful) or U.F.O. (If you go with this one, check the comments for the lyrics after you finish hearing it, you’ll probably laugh quite a bit after finding out what the song is about for such a banger) Suisei is a really bright star even among them, or maybe I should say a shining comet, basically every piece of music coming from her is a gem, my favorite one is probably Template Man, being a Hololive fan and watching them completely break the bubble and grow so much is crazy, specially on the music field

This song encompasses everything I love about Japanese music. In the kind of successful music we have in the west, it feels to me that bass and drums are often relegated to "rythm machines", while the vocals and guitar take predominance over the course of a piece. I'm not a musician so I'm not sure if I'm spouting nonsense, but in this song for example, each instrument gets one shot at being at the forefront of the song in the mix, especially in the chorus where the drums are insane and then get subdued to let the synth shine. Oh and get ready, the VTuber fandom will probably find you now, and we stick like leeches when people react to VTuber content lol.

I remember when this song dropped, was blown away by her vocals, the incredible diversity in the instrumentals, and just how clean the mix is. In my opinion, the production value of this song felt like a step up from her previous work (still love her older stuff too tho), and acted as a sort of turning point, setting the new bar for her music releases that followed. In terms of other recommendations, Stellar Stellar gives off a similar vibe and is just as incredible, and wii-wii-woo (silly name I know) has some sweet bass lines you might enjoy

Hoshimachi Suisei is oft cited as one of the best best music artists in all of vtubing, and its a hard statement to argue against. Yet, I still think she is grossly underrated. It's fun seeing a band-side interpretation of this song. Suisei is the headliner and us fans come for her voice, so many of the reactions made to her music (at least the ones that contain knowledge and substance and aren't just bros on the couch going WHOAAAA) focus down completely on her vocal movements and techniques. Don't apologize for pausing; the learning is what we are (or at least, I am) here for. Keeping my eyes open for Stellar Stellar, her key piece, and if you're looking for another talent in the same agency that also has a beast of a band behind her (and yet another bassist that should be illegal, or maybe it's the same guy, I dunno) I would point you toward Tokoyami Towa's "AKUMA" and "My Roar." EDIT: I should add that "AKUMA" unfortunately has a really bad oscillating whine through it, perhaps a snare ringing. Drives me a little nuts, might drive you insane, or it might be a teaching moment.

I love this song for so many reasons, Suisei's story as an artist is so special and this is a really early song for her. Not only that, but it was written by an artist that would go on to be the bass palyer and writer for one of my favorite bands Sajou no Hana (and wrote and performed the JJK op Ao no Sumika).
