One of the great qualities that the OSTs of the "PERSONA" franchise have, is that several songs play while you do "mundane" things in the game, i.e., you're walking down the street, and this song plays, or you start going into the dorms and "Iwatodai Dorm" plays, or you go out at night for a walk while "Color Your Night" is playing in the background. And in battles, songs like "Mass Destruction" or "It's Going Down Now" are played. Nice video Tony!

You're correct about when the song plays tony! It comes up for the first time once the seasons change during the school year at the end of spring going into the start of summer. As for the old version of the track, the english vocals you hear in this one dont exist at all. the instruments are arranged very similarly still but they used french speaking (imagine the inaudible vocals from this version but instead it's in French. That kind of vibe). I personally prefer the newer version cause it feels like a much more rounded out song, but both versions are great all the same.

It says “updated” because when the game was being teased and trailers were coming out, many channels would take the music from those trailers and “clean” them, removing all the trailer sound effects and such. Now that the game is out, all the music can just be taken from the game.

This song plays during the Fall, after school (2nd semester). In the original the chorus was different and the rapping verses were in French, as they loved the use of "Je pense donc je suis" (I think therefore I am) which plays a role in the characters' development

In the game, this song begins to play while at the school starting on September 1, when the seasons change. Persona 3 Reload is a remake of the original game from 2006, so it has updated visuals, actors, and it's original OST has been completely remade from the ground up using more modern sounds, while also adding in some new tracks (Full Moon, Full Life, Color Your Night, and It's Going Down Now being the most notable). The original song remains pretty faithful to this version, but in this remade version they added vocals over the brass in the verse after the build up, and the low vocals before the Stevie Wonder-esque breakdown used a French sample instead of in-house recordings.

Old ver was from the trailer and was "fixed". The new version is from the game's official soundtrack dlc Changing seasons is the bgm during autumn season and is played during the day after school. Color your night is the night time BGM from the beginning of the game till the end of Autumn

Persona 3 Reload is a remake of the PS2 original Persona 3, of which there was another two versions made, Persona 3 FES and Persona 3 Portable. The soundtrack for the original is where these updated versions are coming from, definitely worth a listen to if you are curious on what they sounded like back in that era.

you should check out OG persona 3 soundtrack as well, especially burn my dread and burn my dread last battle. Persona 3 Reload is the modern remake of the game with re-arranged tracks. Oh, there are some new shiny songs as well, as you might've known :)

The game is based on a calendar, so we go through the course of about a year in the game. This song plays when you’re at school and during times when (coincidentally) the season changes.

Changing Seasons starts playing when your at school after the end of summer break. It says updated version because these songs were released before the game came out, and the previous version was only the first half of the song.

You hear this in the beginning of the game's 2nd term (the game can be divided by school terms; Japan has three school terms). The main thing that's changed in this track is... they added lyrics. The original game used a trumpet instead of lyrics. Additionally, there used to be a sample in the song that has been replaced by those lower volume vocals that can hear in between verses in the Reload version. The sample was in French. It wasn't just sampled because it sounded good, either, because, when you translate it to English, you can tell it relates to the themes of the game.

Others have said it, but this track plays in your "After School" free time from September onwards, and replaces the original After School theme: "When the Moon's Reaching Out Stars" which played from April to July/August. Changing Seasons is more upbeat and energetic song, in my opinion.

Gotta agree with some others and recommend "The Battle for Everyone's Souls." It plays during the final boss fight, and since the whole final part of the game hits you like a bittersweet train, the song sticks with you long after finishing the game.

So this is the updated, or rewritten version, an older song from the original early release of the game. Of course, like stated many times by the comments, P3 reload is a modern remaster of the old early 2000 lunch of the original game. And with this remake, they rewrote I think almost every single song in the game. As well as adding new songs. This song specifically plays during the summer months of the games Sim/rpg side. And even more specifically it plays only in the school, not to sure on that one tho.

If you wanna try a non-persona game but still a video game song with Vocals, may I recommend 'Same Old Story' from Cassette Beasts? Interestingly the vocals are sorta treated as separate layers, which only kick in after you fuse. It might be an interesting analysis given that context.

Guys, how is it called when the vocal line changes to vocalist starting quietly speaking words to the rhythm and it all gets buried under the instruments, like at 3:38? It is not the first time I hear such thing in music, but I've never found out what is it.

Its just like a spoken lyric that feels sung/said. The dynamic level is SO low though... its actually not a good way to mix vocal lines because its not tangible. Persona stuff seems to do that often. The mix is quite upsidedown there.

Because I've seen it quite often (in Japanese music specifically) just to consider it a random thing. Some musicians are definitely going somewhere with it (and I like it, tbh). But I have zero idea how it is even named and google doesn't help much. As somewhat quick example of another similar trick, I've recently listened to Jujutsu Kaisen ost. The song name is Fight Again. Something similar happens at 3:25.

@@pitipuziko3555 Def not a trick. Its not a good approach TBH. It's not different than adding any other instrument into the mix. For instance in that same spot, there could be a guitar playing the same rhythm or a keyboard etc... There is no real name other than just something else in the mix or the stack of harmonic layers that is happening all at once. The reason it sorta sucks is because the timbre of the human voice with words is different than an instrument. Instrument sounds are designed around how they function and work within the harmonious efforts of the design. Their blend is still really based on pitch and timbre... but a voice is based off a language and IF you are going to put words in that nobody can really hear... what is the point? You might as well have them scat if they are htat low and its meant just to be a sound. Or just just human voice without actual language being said.
