Speaking of "heavy hitters" and their opinions on Polyphia, here is what Steve Vai has to say about Tim Henson (who he named as his favorite contemporary guitar player): “Tim Henson [of Polyphia] is exploring new grounds. I’m seeing an evolution in a direction that I didn’t… that I couldn’t even see coming. And it’s magnificent. I just love hearing those ideas and watching the execution of them.

Sorry didn't quite post the full quote: “He thinks totally outside the box. And if you listen to early stuff, you can hear when he was thinking conventionally, but something happened and he just surrendered to some kind of creative vision. And that’s what their music is. It’s fantastic.”

@@johnnykilroy3026 im pretty sure that creative something was either their song Lit (a Lophiile remix of their song called Light that they made a video of) or just them coming across Ableton Live (which I deduce came from Lit). Either way, that something was a godsend.

PUT IT THIS WAY TONY ... You can go back and forth as much as you want while you've got some relevant insight. The reason I come back is because your commentary adds value. I hate it when reaction channels don't know shit, and are talking to fluff out content. I feel like I leave here a little bit smarter ... 😎😎😎

One of my favorites, even though it's an april fools joke. Highly recommend something like O.D. or The Worst by them.

Another great video man! I would say the vocals at the end are more layered than an actual effect (although there's definitely effects on the layers). Only reason I say that is that some of the layers aren't an exact step up or down and there's vocal runs on some of the layers. As previously mentioned, Polyphia's song OD and Clay's play through on the Meinl Cymbals channel is definitely worth a watch! 😉

Sideways did a really good video (I think) titled "The Problem With Autotune". It was actually largely about how people confuse autotune and pitch correction. Adding effects to vocals really isn't much different than adding them to any other instrument. And a lot of the time when people are defending a vocalist for not using "autotune" those people have no idea how much pitch correction is actually at play in the studio and also in live shows.
@DrumRollTonyReacts2 жыл бұрын
Yea its just 'that sound' and at times grinds on my brain. Like the new wave of pop hip hop is not listenable to me. At all. Your description is pretty accurate tho. Live show aspect of pitch depends on the gig genre as well. That's why I freak out when I'm playing with folks that have the ability to be orhanic and damn good at their voice. If you need it to sing you might want to reinvest in your craft.

Chris Turner of Oceans Ate Alaska has some of the most amazing drumming. Give his studio performance of 40 Roll a shot mate. It'll blow your head off.

This song was definetly just a quick meme song when Ibanez released the new 8 strings. Nevertheless another cool demontration of 8 string usage like Animals as Leaders. Songs like Goose, The Worst, and Yas have a bit more studio work and effects closer to this. Very different from the Aviator, Inspire era of Polyphia 🤣. Great reaction as always

Great Content once again! Crazy song. It’s funny they just made it for April Fools Day, hence it’s was quickly put together and the ridiculous video just for laughs. They are so talented. Even fooling around it’s still a good song, smh!

"Opinions are just opinions - who cares." is exactly the attitude behind your reactions that makes them so fun to watch, imho. Even if you were to watch some absurd shit like Clown Core or something heavy like Inferi or The Faceless (which I'm guessing is out of your wheelhouse) you'd just roll with it and enjoy it for its artistry and technique. Which speaking of, you should totally watch Alex Rudinger's playthru of XenoChrist. I'm super curious to see what you think of technical death metal, lol.

Have you listened to Sleep Token? Definitely worth a listen if you're interested. They recently released a video of a drum playthrough of one of their songs, Hypnosis. Normally they aren't instrumental, but the playthrough video doesn't have any vocals on it. Aside from that song, other good ones that also have videos are Jaws, Alkaline, or The Love You Want Here's a link to the drum playthrough for Hypnosis kzbin.info/www/bejne/pH-9nauHotWJbsk
