@@the_real_tabbyBasically a mechanic to encourage hitting the notes properly. The more you miss, the worse the song sounds. That's why those same people tend to struggle in the base FNF game, where ghost tapping gets punished. The story behind this is good as well. There are 2 backstories: the in game one, and the IRL one. The in game story goes like this: you play as Boyfriend, the guy on the right. The guy on the left is called Yourself, an alternate version of Boyfriend who lost his version of Girlfriend, (known as Herself in his universe) Girlfriend is very important to Boyfriend in the overall game as names imply, she’s his everything. The IRL backstory is sadder. Yourself was created by a man known as Divide, intended for another mod. However, Divide passed in his sleep from cancer, so the creators of this mod found some old art and files of Yourself and used them to create this mod as a tribute to him. The lyrics reflect both of these stories, “stay awake” referring to both Herself and Divide dying. “I’ll make you say how proud you are of me” referring to Divide being proud of his scrapped creation and Herself being proud of Boyfriend. (Fun fact: when he says “just long enough to see” you can see Herself’s spirit hugging Yourself for just a split second.) RIP Divide

@YamiYaiba5 ай бұрын
A bit of game explanation: Friday Night Funkin (FNF for short) is a rhythm game in the style of Dance Dance Revolution/Stepmania using a keyboard for inputs. In the main game, you play as Boyfriend (the character with the red hat) essentially engaging in rap battles with Girlfriend's parents/love interests/etc, but the rapping is simulated with the rhymic pitched tones. Mods expand the game and often have their own self-contained stories and characters. It plays out very "call and response" almost with the opposing character (especially at at lower difficulties), which is the back and forth you're seeing between the two characters here, with Boyfriend and the opposing character often mimicking each other with varying degrees of embellishments as they "battle."
@clowdyglasses5 ай бұрын

another sick thing to notice that i just noticed watching this video-, the arrow colors signify when that note happens within a measure Red arrows happen on the main beats of the rhythm (1, 2, 3, 4), Blue arrows happen on the eighth note beats between them, and Green arrows happen on the sixteenth notes between those, so a full pattern of 8 sixteenth notes in a row looks like Red -> Green -> Blue -> Green -> Red -> Green -> Blue -> Green (you can see this at 14:22)

A big part of how to hit the insane amount of notes is the same muscle memory you use for typing. I play Rhythm games on all platforms and feel like my brain rewires as I do. When I play rhythm games the I only get better once i establish muscle memory for the combos and such. From there i feel like i connect more with how to respond to what i see. Then suddenly i am hitting buttons i dont think i saw or touched. It is as if my brain processed my reaction without the rest of my senses. Then theres that dopamine hit when you realize you did something well so instinctively. With good music and interface playing a rhythm game is an experience. It feels surreal when you play honestly.

Honestly, out of all the FNF songs I've seen, this is hands down the most musically incredible one I've ever seen. I really have fun playing rhythm games, but what got me into them was their music. FNF mods specifically gave me a whole new genre of epic, cool, and orchestral music I never knew I missed. Silly Billy was in a drought where not really any new mods had came out in a good bit of months, I think around 7. Despite it being in a time where people were losing interest, it completely revived the fnf fandom due to it's sheer quality in everything from Visuals, to gameplay(charting), to music. I love this song, and think it's my favorite, but I have only one I like that contends with it. Which actually is my suggestion you listen to next: All Stars, Mario Madness. It's a full classical piece with movements(portrayed as acts, which it has 4) but I highly recommend if you like this, then check out All Stars. (P.S.) I love how you said that you're inclined to not like it, cause it's a rhythm game, which a lot of people agree with and do. But I'm really happy even as a musician that this was good, and also gives me extra confidence to tell my friends about it. (not that you care lol, but the story is also interesting too, but I'm not expecting you to like it.

This is a really funny place to start with Friday Night Funkin lol. I've been out of the loop on this game for probably between 1 and 2 years now but it's an indie rhythm game inspired by the gameplay of PaRappa the Rapper and the culture of Newgrounds. The formula for the gameplay is meant to be like a rap battle except you're listening to and watching what the opponent does because the game is about to make you repeat it back to them, altho the formula has evolved a lot so that back and forth style isn't always the case anymore, but you can see some of the holdovers from that style like how you can see the opponents notes even if you're not in a song or a section that copies them. The base game is fun, but this game also has a HUGE modding scene, some of my favorite mods are Vs Whitty, Smoke Em Out Struggle, and Tricky. I'd been seeing a lot of ppl talk about Silly Billy and so when I saw you upload this I was like huh maybe it's worth checking out, and goddAMN that vocal part at the end is some of the coolest shit I've ever seen.

To give a baseline runover of Friday Night Funkin (Which I will call FnF) is that it's a single player game where you typically control the character on the right, with a large majority of songs not having lyrics. The base game itself is generally pretty small and has little gameplay outside of only hitting the notes, however that's where the modding community shines. The modding community is one reason for the game's popularity boom with some admittedly very bad and very cringe mods but also some absolutely impeccable mods, with classics such as Vs Whitty and Vs Tricky to more recent mods such as Mario's Madness. The modding community has some seriously talented music artists, some songs even being top trending on social medias for some time. If you checked out other mods, I would really recommend it, there's a large farm of good music that you could check out, and I know there are others in the comments that would recommend their personally liked mods. If I were to recommend 2 older ones and 2 newer ones, I'd recommend Vs Whitty (The first mod with unique music) and Vs Tricky for the older mods, and for newer ones I'd recommend Mario's Madness V2 and Vs Ourple Guy V3, there's also Hypno's Lullaby for a sort of middle ground (but it's being updated soon after stalled development from being cancelled for a time)

You should check out Ultrakill OST For some intense, overwhelming tracks -Order -War -Tenebre Rosso Sangue (I highly suggest this one) -He's the Light in my darkness -Sands of Tide And for more calmer tracks -Deep Blue -The World looks Red ((I also highly suggest this one) -War without Reason -Requiem

An FnF song that went so hard that it was recognized by a music producer. Holy hot damn.

The funniest part is how he’s mentioning his shock as to how people do this when the song really isn’t that difficult, even compared to other fnf mods

Your analysis was super interesting. Would love to see you analyse more Friday Night Funkin' music. Modded or base game

The fact that you went back and saw the red flame yet you couldn't tell that was " Girl friend "

👍 My bad for focusing on the music and not the colors of flames 😅

It's wild to me that Silly Billy sorta 'broke containment' from the FNF space and got music reaction channels analyzing it.

You should react to an ost called "Roland Venture Crabitalist". Its from a newer soulslike game another crabs treasure and the whole game has great music. The ost is about 2 min.

The lyrics are very on par with psychology, if your unconscious mind could literally speak to you, it would definitely say something like that

Unexpected but surprisingly cool to see you react on this.

It takes a lot of practice on that specific song to get those button mashes that accurate, and this is the hardest difficulty this person is doing too.

Fun note is that if you pause the frames just right, you can see the red form is actually GF, the main character BF's girlfriend, which leads to the thought that 'Yourself'/'Silly Billy', the tall and beastly version of BF, could be echoing the words he told her when he said to stay awake.

I have never seen a single musician that was good at rhythm games unless they were an advent gamer.

Totally on/off topic but a band that this song reminds me of is Anamanaguchi. Chiptune-Rock Fusion/Edm band that specializes in just filling your ears with pleasant walls of sound, while not at all convoluting the mix.

i dont know if everyone feals like this when playing FNF. but i have no idea how im actually able to play the game, when i play it i just think that my hand has a mind of its own wit hthe speed its going

So Friday Night Funkin is a singleplayer game. But you'll see the arrows from the AI to show which notes to press, as it is a rythem game.

I don't know how to feel that he says "What the fuck how are you supposed to play that!" and my only reaction being, "isn't that easy...?" I think I played to much fnf...

9:04 , for people that has played fnf for 1 year (inclueding me ) it is possible the only thing maybe difficult is the song is 6 minutes long thats all
