“Brigit” is the fictional tale of Thorlak and Kaia’s eldest daughter. This is the second piece I have written in the Viking “Song Story” collection. Check out my last video “Kaia” if you missed the first one!
I have intended this experience to be an intimate listening experience as if you were watching the pages of a story book being turned, letting your imagination settle into the place and circumstances of the characters. I hope that you can just sit, listen, watch, and enjoy.
I would love to know if you enjoy this mode of storytelling, so please help me out by commenting, liking, and sharing this video if you do. I plan to continue telling these stories, but will also intersperse other songs in between.
The primary subject of this Song Story is “Patience.” “Patience,” comes from the Latin word “to suffer.” I think that to suffer patiently is the bravest thing a person can do. Brigit had to wait and endure trials in her life, and did not know how things would turn out. This leads into the primary virtue of this story, which is “faith.” Brigit had a deep sense of the wisdom that was guiding her life, and she kept her faith through the darkness. As she loses her physical sight, a spiritual sight takes over her life.

MORE DETAILS:
The images were generated by Starry A.I. and I edited many of them. This piece is written in a “through-composed” form, where there is not a distinct repetition of sections with the exception of the beginning and the end. However, the melodies are reused and interwoven with each other many times. This is to purposefully show Brigit’s complexity, that she finds deep significance in the changes in her life and that she is constantly creating new images and poetry in her mind, but that she does not forget easily, and holds onto the memories of the past that shape her.
LYRICS:
When I look inside my soul
There’s a presence I don’t know
I seem to understand
There’s a friendly, hidden hand
And it lights the way and it guides me
It walks a path beside me
Helper from the skies
I can see with hidden eyes.
Looking in your eyes I can see
The world that I want
Our destiny
It’s calling us
We could live the life of a dream
If only you’d see
What we could be together
Go my mighty one, bring honor to our name,
Oh my dearest one, come back to me the same,
Do not let the earthly battle stain your love for me,
Do not let the whale road drown you in the sea.
Wild Wonder, full of beauty, I thought I could hold you close
I say I see, I sigh I could be, You are gone. You are a ghost.
Haven, Heaven do not forget me.
