The tilma is a cloak worn by Juan Diego where the image of the Our Lady of Guadalupe was miraculously imprinted.

Catholics do not worship the Virgin nor do they adore her; they Revere her. Adoration is strictly for Jesus Christ. God loves and trusts the Virgin so much that she is elevated to a higher order than the Angels though she was a mortal. This is why Lucifer rebelled and was cast out; because he foresaw that she would be elevated above him and his pride couldn't accept that. It is not idolatry to revere the Virgin. God loves those who do.

@@John2verse5 I love the way Catholics make scripture say what they want it to say. Exodus says honor your father and mother. It does not say honor your mother Mary. It is talking about your earthly parents. The only correlation here is that she is earthly too. Luke 1 actually is showing that she is not all those superlatives the church calls her. Here she is called the handmaiden of the Lord. You might want to research what that means. Certainly nothing like queen of heaven. Isaiah is the prophecy of the coming Messiah. The virgin here is secondary. What does John 14 have to do with Mary? Mary carried us in her womb? Boy I hear something new from you Catholics everyday. If she carried us in her womb, does that mean since Jesus was sinless, we are sinless too?

BIBLICAL INTERPRETATION The principle of the Scriptures' writing must also be the principle of its interpretation. From this perspective, we must bear in mind that Scriptures are written by men who are inspired by the Holy Spirit. As written by men, it exists in a context. Language, culture, and the human author's intention must then be considered in interpretation. Also, it must also be considered that the authors do not write as solitaries receiving dictation directly from God or even from an angel. The authors existed or lived within a faith community where salvation history is experienced as divinely ordained. On the other hand, by virtue of the principal cause of the writing of Scriptures which is the Holy Spirit, scriptural interpretation must rely on His grace of faith, understanding, and wisdom. Now, these two principles, where one (human) is subordinate to the other (divine), meet in the Church since the Church is the body of Christ made possible by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in the faith community where each and every member takes his or her share of gifts from the Lord as member of the body. Moreover, since the Bible itself is contextualized by history and cultures, its interpretation also is contextualized by history and cultures. For this reason, the Living Tradition, where this integral and integrating interpretation is being made, is also necessary for correct interpretation. Lastly, this faith community where the Spirit dwells and vivifies as the body of Christ, His Church, is a hierarchical community of servants, made possible by Christ's having chosen among His disciples the Twelve as shepherds with the one Shepherd who is Christ, sharing in His ministry of service. Now, this Twelve, existing in a faith community made possible by the Spirit is continued throughout church history as the church lives by the Spirit that gives her life. Consider also that the keys of the Kingdom was given to Peter who is the first among the Apostles. Finally, correct interpretation of Scriptures is possible for me and for you as an individual when our own interpretations are aligned with the Bible itself, with the living tradition that integrates interpretations throughout history, and with the official magisterium of the Church where the deposit of faith is guarded by the power of the Holy Spirit promised by Christ. If this situation is obtained, then the thousands of Christian denominations will be one with the Catholic Church, the Church Christ founded, as Christ prayed the night before he died.
