Gorgeous turntable. A page right out of the 70's! Would love to get my hands on one.

Don't you have to "counterbalance" the arm? And on the calibration setting, you set it for 1.5, instead of two?
@marvinshaberesq.5072
@marvinshaberesq.5072 3 жыл бұрын
0Absolutely correct....he did not counterbalance. For novices that means having the "0" balance by floating the arm above the platterand then setting the balance weight to "0" and turing the weight until it reaches 2 as specified by MF for this table.The anti-skate should be set to the manufacturer recommendation of 2.0 as well. I have one of these in my children's rec room and I put the weight on 1.75 because it was tracking well at that level. I always feel that you should go as light as possible so as to reduce wear and tear on the record grooves themselves, especially with a (relatively) inexpensive cartridge. In any event, HiDef Rep should amend his review because 'newbies' are going to screw this up if they follow his set-up blindly.

Hi - the plastic scale on counterweight moves seperatly in my music hall :( Byu I twist it to the line like on the video... Is it something wrong with this piece?

just picked up one of these...the tone arm lever is no where to be found. Is it hidden somewhere that isn't obvious, or did it not get packed?

@@DG-ie5ip yes! And the company sent me a new one too, but I didn't find the original one until after I received the new one! It had fallen into the creases at the bottom of the box, under the flaps somehow!

Laman, do you stock (or does Music Hall manufacture) extra head shells for this turntable? I like having a separate cart for my mono vinyl. Thanks.

This is a basic "headshell" fitting, so like myself, I am ordering a headshell and an Ortofon blue stylus, which will fit it>

Hi there! Does the tone arm need to be balanced with the classic?

You set the counterweight at 1.5 not 2.0 like you said. You set the anti skate at 1.5
@HiDEFLIFESTYLE

The dial on the counterweight is actually free spinning, once it hits the line its at 2.0 you have to spin the dial till it lines up with the line. Unfortunately when I was shooting it, I had set it to 2.0 from a previous take and it must have turned slightly and I could not see it from my angle at the time.

Was trying to decide between this turntable and the Fluance Rt-83. I bought the Fluance and immediately regretted not buying the Music Hall Classic. With my Fluance I'm not happy with the tone arm and the lift lever. Very cheap lightweight plastic quality! Low quality dustcover! I'm not happy with the sound of the Ortofon 2m Red Cartridge that came with it. Overall I really wished I bought the Music Hall Classic! Just looks more solid! 😟

Believe me, friend, DO NOT BUY THE FLUANCE!! Bought the T-84, the belt would not keep it at 331/3 speed, trust me a POC!

This is yet another OEM turntable from the usual suspects in China,made from the same building set like many others with a costume styled hood and arm. The one plus point is lift off/motor stop at end of play.

Actually, it has better specs than the 'usual suspects' you're referring to. The MF Classic has a less than .12 wow and flutter and a greater than 65db s/n ratio. The thick isolating feet and the DC servo motor are also more accurate than let's say, a inexpensive TEAC or Audio Technica built in the same region. The build quality is also superior to its Fluance neighbor, The rigid MDF plinth and the heavy sub-platter create the mid-level quality of the unit. Finally, if one puts a high quality cartridge on this table ( buy a $29 headshell for it and load it up) with a Goldring or a nice AT-VM95ML (linear) or shibata stylus, that rigid tonearm will sing. For $600.00 as it sits, it punches well above it's weight and MF makes a great phono stage built in. I use mine with Cambridge Audio MM pass through and a Ortofon Bronze cartridge. It outperforms my Rega P3 with the standard Elyse 2 cartridge at the similar total price point. Just saying.....
