Music in Schools Professional Development for Teachers

The Music in Schools project was a collaborative initiative between The Organization for Strategic Development in Jamaica (OSDJ), the Ministry of Education & Youth, and several leading Jamaican educational institutions. The project aimed to uplift music education in Jamaican secondary schools by equipping teachers with advanced skills in vocal and instrumental development, as well as performance techniques.
Through a week-long residential training program, teachers engaged in workshops, hands-on practice, and performance sessions focused on Woodwind, Brass, and Percussion methods. This intensive training provided them with new teaching strategies to enrich their students' learning experience.
The project, proudly funded by CHASE Fund, successfully enhanced the capabilities of music teachers across Jamaica.
