@@batteriesnotincluded4715 I do not agree with that personally but I can see the appeal. You need to have a very specific mood and taste in mind for that I would figure. That or at least finely chop them to the point of it basically becoming a powered spice or something...

Totally agree- that level of human compassion and forgiveness is unfortunately hard to find these days. After learning about this back-story, I realize Dolly could serve as an example of ethical behavior, to women and men, in both business and in life. And the immense level of talent on top of all of this? A saint, indeed.

I lived in the same neighborhood as Porter n Dolly (iykyk) in Nashville back in the late 60's/early 70's. You'd see them at the grocery store as well as other celebs. Nashville used to be cool.

So I just briefly read up on it as I was in shock too that someone in their prime to go out like that. The accounts told by the only 2 witnesses suggest a much more sinister picture.

Porter produced it first. Dolly took it to number 1 4x's. She didn't let Elvis record it because he wanted rights to it and she wasn't giving up her rights to it. Dolly still makes money ever time it's played. Weither it's her singing or Whitney Houston singing. She's made more than $20 million on just this song

Sam Cooke covered "I Love You For Sentimental Reasons", but so did a lot of people, but he didn't write it. Nat King Cole probably had the most famous version. Just a minor uh...correction, sorry.

I heard a totally different story about "Jolene" from Dolly in a documentary. It was about a woman bank teller that dealt with her husband one time, and she came up with the idea. Nothing happened in real life - just the idea for the lyrics.

Actually he wasn't going to perform that song until the night Muhammad Ali became World Champ and him Malcolm X Muhammad Ali and Jim Brown had a gentleman's night and Sam Cooke and Malcolm X got into it a little bit about what needs to be done which fortified Sam Cooke putting out that song the classic a change going to come

I am happy to see these narrators enjoy the freedom to feel at ease while they relate the anecdotes of history. While alcohol is a deadly and highly addictive drug, which kills more people each year than all other drugs, at least these narrators have the freedom to adjust their consciousness in the way they choose fit. We may feel grateful that they have not chosen to influence their consciousness in a way that that would be illegal by selecting the wrong drug, a choice for which they would be not only widely condemned, but also quite likely imprisoned. Sobriety, most people come to realize, is the best option, though its taste is not so sweet when mandated by law, under threat of the loss of one's personal Liberty. No. Norma _Jeane_ Mortenson changed her name to _Marilyn_ Monroe. Norma Jean Beasler went by the name Norma Jean.
