This music is some of the most beautiful and unsettling music ever... AND I LOVE IT FOR THAT. It's like the Naga people...Comforting and quiet yet underneath the angelic feeling has a hint of a sinister or unknown about it.

@GeoffronX from what I recall, the naga are the highborne elves who tried to summon sargeras through the well of eternity. When it exploded the magic that severed the continent also warped thier bodies because they were so close to it.

Wotlk was my best, but Cataclysm too was so epic in its release, i personally liked cataclysm so much.

Azshara and the Highborne drowned along with the well of eternity (where the Maelstrom is now). They slowly sunk into the depths and an Old God whispered Azshara that there was a way out. A way to get back all the power she loved. The Old God morphed all Highborne there into naga using their Curse of Flesh, and eventually each fell prey to the god's corruption and so did Azshara. Doesn't this music fit that story amazingly well?

Naga are my fav race. I love the cursed, slightly Cthulhu-ish Atltantean theme. I remember in one of the Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne Campaigns you travel through partially submerged ancient jungly ruins fighting Naga... just so atmospheric.

@Alllester10 It seems to me that I heard these (wonderful *_*) vocals in Azshara, and more precisely at Ravencrest Monument, while leveling my troll hunter. You might have to get inside and outside the area several times to change the music in order to hear them though, it took me a while to hear them again :p

I think one thing that made Cataclysm unpopular was that it was the first time they really implemented the 3rd dimension into questing, prior to cataclysm, most questing areas weren't "flat", but you didn't have to take into consideration that the objective might be below the ground you're on, or above you in the clouds.

@GinjisSun Well they did technically invent the naga, not the base idea ofcourse, but the entire part about being evil ex-elves who serve giant tentacular things was never mentioned in hinduism as far as i know.

Common misconception. They asked the Old gods for a better form to survive the depths. N'Zoth gave them the form of the twisted Naga we see today.

People say Cataclysm was the worst Expansion out there, not fully understanding that its Lore, the new Regions, the outlook of it, the style, and even the music was phenomenal. I'm still a Wrath guy, but Cataclysm wasn't all that bad truly.

The Old Gods didn't use the curse of Flesh on the Highborne, they were already fleshlings :P but yes they did some sort of curse of them.

Cataclysm was still the worst Expansion out there... But if you look at it in a perspective as I do, I don't hate it. I just feel that BC, Wrath, and even Mists had better attention. But moral of this story is... Wrath>BC>Vanilla>Mists>Cataclysm.
