I don't understand why some producers still thinking Reason is a sort of toy... you guys are breaking the concept of DAW as a record machine with some MIDI tools, you are beyond all of the others in many aspects, and this new player is something! Thanx!
@SeeingColor
@SeeingColor 6 жыл бұрын
Mano Bap I’ve heard 19-year old metal heads assert all synthesizers are toys. The fact is, “toy” defines not only all instruments but all sports equipment-if used recreationally. “Toy” is just a passive-aggressive euphemism used by someone who feels threatened by tools that achieve similar or novel results with less effort or a more ergonomic design.

Because the proppelerheads clearly don't understand the differenece between polyrytm and polymeter @ 06:20 is a prime example of that , they showcase polymeter and call it polyrytm , Epic Swedish facepalm

@@WARDISWARD As far as i know Polyrythm is just using 2 diferent division values together. And the showcase done here seems exactly that. The below part is divided in 4, the top part is not divided in 4 , that's polyrythm in theory

Well, I was gonna buy Volca Kick, but you guys made this. Bass beats on a Moog sound DIRTY! Add a Polivoks and it farts like a Soviet tractor with a bad gasket. Let me warn you, I play Death Industrial/ Power Electronics, so it might not be to your taste, but the possibilities here are endless. This sequencer could change the worlds of Trap and Witch House or any other genre out there. Just use your imagination. Still learning this. Good times. Many thanks.

this looks easier to use than the matrix sequencer.... but the matrix has more notes and octaves available. that matrix sequencer is so tiny. honestly i love what you can do with it. i love the fact that you don't have to click on every drum sample to program a beat... makes things alot faster like using an actual drum machine.... i've always thought using a real drum machine was alot faster and easier than programming beats on a digital daw. but yeah this is pretty much a sequencer... i really like how fast you can put stuff in it too. Good job guys.

I won't be able to upgrade (the price is a little too steep for me, and with the recent synth rig crossgrade...), but you have given me a whole new reason to ditch redrum and work a rhythm directly into the sequencer. Just been meddling inside the sequencer after watching this video, and it is so much more more liberating than using Redrum. Thanks for the video. Thanks for device, even if indirectly so, because it just taught me to have fun in a completely different way!

Just upgraded the other day and started messing with this today. Took a bit for me to really get around to understand it with the style of music i like to do, but figured it out. A note that Propellerhead forgot to mention (may or may not be in comments somewhere, haven't read all) if you're doing genres like dubstep for instance, treat each pattern in this player as one bar. It was really throwing me off for a bit as I couldn't figure out why my drums were sounding faster. For more creativity can set the speed to .5 the normal which will give you 2 bars in one pattern. hope this help some out

Congrats to Prop don't mean to hate BUT: - Don't get why steps are limited to 16 - I want to create long rythms on the fly without being limited by steps and 8 patterns. FL does a fantastic job doing that (can extend the pattern as much as needed leaving you great freedom to create long loops with time signature uo to 1/514). Reason on the other hand limits your loop with the pattern and steps which affects and interupts creativity for me. - Wish there was a Reverse option for every note (reversing kicks, snares, hats could sound extremely cool) or cool stutter, tape stop and other effects. For new Reason users, get used to working in the sequencer. I have been using Reason since 2007 and for me personally the Rack always slowed me down as I stayed hours tweaking a short loop (max 32 steps), where instead I could've spent the same amount of time on Reason's Sequencer section and would've probably finished the song. I dig the idea of players but Reason should open up to new modern genres. We need better tape stops and pitch effects, more on-the fly sample modulation. The "Transpose" section in the sequencer should have the possibility to be automated, time-signature should be above 1/64 as well. PS: PROPS SHOULD CONTACT GLITCH OR SUGARBYTES EFFECTRIX TO CREATE A "PLAYER" VERSION OF THEIR VSTS. Would be just awesome.
@ReasonStudios
@ReasonStudios 6 жыл бұрын
Karim, thanks for the thoughtful comment and taking the time to explain your ideas so clearly. The 16 step decision is a design decision and something everyone who designs a synth or even a bread maker struggles with: what's the balance between full-featured vs. intuitive/fun to use. 32, 48, and 64 step interfaces change that balance and for this particular Player we found the balance we were happy with using 16 steps, pattern selection, and probability to alter patterns as well. There is, however, another 32 step pattern sequencer Player that launched today from Lectric Panda called Kompulsion that has TONS of features in a very advanced interface. You might find that you like it for what you're wanting to do. I'd encourage you to make use of the free 30 day trial on Rack Extensions to see how it fits with your workflow. As for the "Reverse" option - keep in mind that Players only deal in the realm of MIDI and it sounds like you're wanting to reverse the actual audio sample. That's not something a Player could ever do since they don't access the audio itself. There are glitch-based Rack Extensions like Buffre and Glitch (to name just two) which do that sort of thing but it's outside the scope of Drum Sequencer or any Player to be able to do that. And thanks for your other thoughts too. We are always working to improve Reason's performance, features, and ultimate goal: to help everyone make more and better music all the time. The sequencer is an area that definitely not being overlooked in that ongoing effort. /ryan

Drum Sequencer + Kong covers almost all the bases that Breaktweaker does, minus wav generation (which can be set up through samples), or shaping the curve of the repeats, or mixing two sounds for one pad as well. Otherwise, pretty awesome, and easier to use. Great job.
