Just built this project. Everything works like a charm! Thanks for the CODE and the video. (I did fry a couple of wires at first, because I undersized them for the 300 LEDs I was using) Since it is a test unit, I tweaked the code to use the max number of LEDs that I have so I wouldn't have to cut the line just yet. Now I will work on some sort of container like you have. I will just have to keep in mind the number of LEDs I finally use and the power consumption. Thanks again!!!

So I'm lowkey jealous of the technical skills you guys have. I've dabbled in coding, know CAD programs quite well and have designed a few robots in classes, but you seem to have invested a lot of time in these skills while I spent my time on less productive hobbies. These videos are really inspiring though, makes me want to turn my skills into serious hobbies.

you should start an store on either ebay or etsy or amazong to sell this type of stuff !
@Nerdforge8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip, but I'm wondering if it would be wortwhile. What do you reckon people would pay for anything like this?
@waltervd_o3o8 жыл бұрын
i don't know just add everything you paid for it together + some cost for the time you put into it + a little extra ( at least that's how most people do it xD ) that should make a decent number to sell it for but if i would have to guess somewhere between 15 / 20 dollar ? you could start your own brand with this type of thing xD i dont know what the arduino costs and such but maybe if you can buy them in bulk their cheaper ? i have no clue xD
@randomtvninja8 жыл бұрын
Natural Nerd I'd spend about $30-$35 for it $50 for 3 day shipping ( in America shipping can be pretty cheap, I know it gets expensive in other countries) it cost you probably around $15 dollars or less not including shipping. so you could make $15-$25 dollars per. that's not bad at all. I'd do it man but screw eBay of Etsy make a site if you don't have one already and go all out. you found a new sub I want to build this if you don't start selling them but if you do I'll buy two of em! also you should code it to do both music detection and just regular LED lamps would be sick!
@Nerdforge8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the input! Shipping in Norway is cheap too, the problem is shipping from EU to the U.S (and the other way around for that matter) usually is around 30-60USD for a larger package.
@randomtvninja8 жыл бұрын
Natural Nerd then always ship in bulk, it will unfortunately take longer for people to get things but it will help with costs. or have someone in the US to ship everything to in bulk as well and they can ship it out from the US. but that would take finding someone you can trust
@skbartistry24738 жыл бұрын
Didn't knew it was possible with a regular LED strip. This just made my plans for my home entertainment system, bedroom tv system and work desk, way cheaper (I originally thought of using NZXT RGB LEDs for the entire thing, with a controller each place).
@Nerdforge8 жыл бұрын
Well, they need to be individually addressable :)

People definitely are willing to pay some good money for cool things like this since there aren't many around in the marketplace.

here's an idea. try making sound and music reactive led armor. simple stuff. like arm bracers and a chest piece. it could be a future punk cosplay, rave armor, a video prop, or something used for a laser tag concept upgrade. not to mention that it would also be something youtube hasn't seen done yet. especially if you can make it so it attaches to a phone or mp3 player or phone via a headphone jack.

This looks awesome, it was very reactive to your voice, I have been wanting to make something like this, but with a 12 volt output, so I can actually make my traffic light sound reactive, I thought that maybe it would be possible if I put in medium base 12 volt light bulbs (as long as no one plugs those into 120 volt outlet), I bet if I added a few voltage step up circuits or maybe a transformer or inverter (I need to research on the load), and I think my idea could be possible. Well, hey, with electronics, anything is possible (kind of)

Awesome work!! I've just come across your channel and I'm so impressed by you two! After seeing three vids of yours, I was wondering if you are able to recreate this thing I had when I was younger. Bare with me while I try to explain what it is. It was a vertical tube filled with water about 2 feet tall. I would connect my portable cd player (yes I'm that old where I had one...lol...) And the tube would light up with different colors. But the most amazing part was that bubbles would emerge from the base in syncrony with the best of the music! I think the colors changed too with the music but that I don't remember. Could this be possible to recreate??? Could you show us??? Thanks guys!!

This idea is great. But I'd run it off a entec artnet box from resolume for much more accurate responce to music or bpm.
@Nerdforge7 жыл бұрын
Sure, there are plenty of solutions that are much more accurate, but these are usually not low cost, nor low effort. This works remarkably good for just using a microphone without any cable inputs. You could bring this anywhere, and set it up in a matter of seconds :)
@trevtrev15237 жыл бұрын
Yah I understand what you mean entirely. I guess my position is if I was to put the effort into building one, most likely a bigger version it would be for an event and I'd use artnet and an actual computer.
