This was the best simple Explanation of this I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen a lot haha. It confirmed my understanding of this subject is correct which is good! I have to argue the toss with so many producers and artists who do not understand how this work. And it is confusing tbf. But yea man it’s refreshing to see someone who gets it and can explain well so that hopefully others will understand. The two biggest mistakes I see is artists giving away 50% of their distrokid splits to the producer and the producer thinking they are entitled to this 50% because they both just think that splits covers all the royalties and the made the song together 50-50. I’ve had producers literally go mental when I’ve told them they shouldn’t really get more than 5% ish. It’s madness.
