Finneas was credited strictly as production, while himself, Billie and Khalid were credited for writing. Love this song, and feel her voice sounds different in this song vs her other music. She's so versatile! If you notice, her "breathy" tone came after the shitty bf came and left. I presume because she lacked self confidence. Either way, it was all good!

May be you already know these facts but they were both fans of each other on social media for years unbeknownst to each other. Both liked the other's voice. Khalid then hit it big and became a superstar and moved to LA. That's when he was invited to her house and they recorded this song in that same small bedroom with Finneas doing the production. Khalid took a huge risk in the collab. Billie was no name at that time, but both singers knew each other's voices would go well. That's why they sound so natural. It's funny at the end you should say "European sound" because Khalid grew up in Germany -- that may have something to do with it.

This song was written by Bonie, she was gonna release it as a punk rock but I'm happy Khalid and Billie bought it from her, she was not credited in the song cuz she's a ghost writer

Hi David - I don't think your head is so ... whatever! I like your reactions; I am a Billie fan and admirer, and I don't know why, but this song has never hit hard with me - I think it doesn't seem to go anywhere - there isn't another one like that for me, from Billie - it doesn't move me. It is interesting to me that 1.3 Billion love it and I am not that moved by it - isn't that something. By the way, for your enjoyment - and perhaps not for a reaction - you might listen to Billie singing "Sally's Song" for Danny Elfman's "Nightmare before Christmas" - it's really a different Billie that we're used to [ October 29, 2021 ] I believe the song is beautiful. P.S. It makes me wonder if she going to do other things with her voice, that are different - perhaps more expansive - than we're used to

It's interesting that you comment that the issue is that the song doesn't go anywhere. I think that's kind of the point! The song for me has always been about being trapped/isolated by depression or mental health issues, and those just kind of... stick around, and not often changing, or at least feeling like they're not going to change. So the lack of a resolution or end point makes sense, thematically.
