Caruso, is an italian song, written, composed and performed in 1986 by Lucio Dalla as a tribute to Enrico Caruso, the most famous tenor of his time (late 19th / early 20th century). He was the first global singing superstar. The story is about the last days of Enrico Caruso, he knows he is dying, and he is remembering all his career on stage and telling his much younger wife how much he loves her. It has very quickly become a classic of italia music and the biggest names have covered it (Julio Iglesias, Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, …. and of course Luciano Pavarotti). But for many, Lara's version from the concert From Lara With Love 2000 kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIGVfKGCmtKHbZo is the best ever, as she was able, with her unique ability to convey the emotions of a song, to reveal the real sad story written by Lucio Dalla. I was told that Lucio Dalla himself, after hearing this performance, said that she made it her song and this is the best version he has heard from it. For Lara, this song is really important as this is a kind of anthem for Italy, and she is so much connected to this country. She spent the first few years of her life there with her sicilian mother and grandma. Her husband is also sicilian. She also as been living there for the past few months since the end of 2022.

This caruso rendition is one of the best from Lara. Many prefer her 2000 version in the “From Lara with Love” concert. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIGVfKGCmtKHbZo But this 2003 concert in Paris titled “en toute intimité” (in complete intimacy) is the preferred overall by her fanbase: probably because Lara was in her prime, on the vocal and performance sides, and also because it featured only a piano and a few chords, which let her voice shine. For another rendition, in 2010, in Las Vegas for the "David Foster and Friends” concert, David Foster, said introducing her: “I’m gonna introduce you to someone… It’s gonna blow your mind ! Her voice, well, I can only describe it as heavenly. When she burst onto the scene, we couldn’t believe what we were hearing, it was a voice like from another planet or something! She made her mark here and then she conquered Europe where she has lived for most of her life. I’m so fortunate to live in a world of great voices but believe me this voice is at the top of the heap of great voices. (…) Wait til you hear this woman sing. Please welcome … Lara Fabian!”

🇨🇦 You would do well to read the 2 comments below from Eric Sicard ! Lara is a trained Lyric Soprano whose breath control is unrivaled ! Notice that whether she is standing or sitting, erect or bent over, her control and strength never leaves her, and her performance is never effected ! In most cases, I prefer her videos from the 2000 concert because they are live, and 99% flawless !
