There`s a recording of Paco de Lucia watching one of his concerts and Paco himself stood up in applause. And it was many years ago. Yamandu is like wine...only gets better and better with time

Paco de Lucia was a gutarrist from another world. But he knew how to recognize a natural talent when he saw it! That's why he applauded Yamandu Costa. R.I.P. Paco de Lucia (Born: 12/21/1947, Kingdom of Algeciras, Spain - Died: 02/25/2014, Playa del Carmen, México).

I just wanted to thank you for reacting to Yamandu Costa's performance. It means so much to me when international creators like you recognize Brazilian cultural treasures. Yamandu is truly the greatest guitarist currently active in Brazil, and seeing his artistry reach new audiences is wonderful. Your reaction brought a lot of joy to us fans! Thank you again for sharing his music with your viewers!

I saw him live on 6/8/24, and my jaw still hasn't come back up to meet the rest of my face. He was charming and funny, despite the language barrier... and perhaps in an even better mood because there was a Portuguese festival all-day before the show. His guest player was Paquito D'Rivera, a clarinet wizard, and their short set was magnificent and fun.

Because both Bossa Nova and Samba are heavy on syncopation, Brazilian musicians get very used to producing 1/8 or 1/16 beats and off-beat sounds and that naturally leads to very clean sound.

Samba para o Rapha , Rafael great musician and friend of Yamandu, died of heart attack. 😢😢😢😢😢
@@jennifersmusicpage - The heart attack was the result of a tragic situation. Raphael had a car accident and broke his arm in two places. The operation was successful and he later returned to playing. Unfortunately, shortly after the operation where he received a blood transfusion, he found out that the blood was infected with a virus HIV. That was a time when blood was not yet tested and after that, everything led to a bad ending. Raphael had to take medication because the virus attacked the immune system, which caused addiction. By the way, Raphael was a great friend with Paco de Lucia and they recorded an album together. His premature death at the age of 32 was a terrible loss for Brazilian and World music.Raphael is influenced young Yamanda Costa as one of the greatest guitarists of the time.

I cant listen to this, any "classical guitar" that has the ABOMINATION of an extra string has had its tonal qualities UTTERLY DESTROYED. I dont even need to LOOK to know there is something terribly wrong wtih the way a piece of music sounds when played on one of these horrendous instruments. The guiar is 100% perfect and adding anything to it is subtracting everything from it.

The seven string guitar is not an abomination. It ís a very common instrument in Brazilian, Mexican and Russian musical scenery, among others. The seven string was not added to a standard six string. it came from the 12 string guitar
