Finally - this is great!!!

This is great, especially for old school heavy metal like maiden or dio. Something I struggle with is extreme metal like grindcore that tend to disrespect the concept of keys to go for max dissonance. Getting that kind of mega aggressive dissonant sound would be a cool lesson concept.

Love it!!!! Any tips on metal rythm counting to keep time would be awsome in the series as well. one and 3 and 4 and... one two and eh 3 e and eh 4 e and eh.. ect.. Keeping time, one of the things im working on atm between adding diatonic notes to pentatonic 5 shapes which finally have memorized this week, caged study, and songs. Keep rocking Brian🧟

Yes I'll talk about that more in future videos. You'll probably want to play around with triplets more. If you watch the demo in the beginning of this video, you'll notice that it's all triplets!

I think timing & rhythm get overlooked or glossed over, It's a required skill & takes work
@karlbrown46356 күн бұрын
@ about to watch a 4th time loving this one. I did catch the triplets. Lots of fun learning to make my own metal progressions and the 6 5 4 stairway progressions awsome!! Opened my eyes a bit on writing my own rhythms too. Appreciate ya Brian

I’m coming up to sixty bloody two years old (it comes fast lads -trust me) and I’ve never taken to metal in my life. Hard rock yes, like UFOto an extent when I was a teen, Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple, some Led Zeppelin, but the 80s hair metal like Van Halen, Aerosmith and the death metal (bloody awful use of vocal chords) etc in the 90s until now, I can’t listen to. To me, it just isn’t music. Most of my life, it’s been progressive rock (70s style - Yes, Genesis, Rush, Steve Hillage (Psychedelic type rock), Pink Floyd) but there’s certainly elements of this “metal” style of playing in all of that. I just won’t be tuning in because I’d ever want to play the brand of metal which is thought of today. Good start Brian. You always output useful stuff my man. Kudos to you.

The diminished 7 is not really a 5 chord - correct?
@zombieguitar8 күн бұрын
Yes, it would be a D#(b5). I talked about that at the end of the video 🎸

@@zombieguitar Got it. That's what I get for skipping the end of the video! Sorry! Rock on brother. 🎶 😈🤘

This would have been a great way to teach a generation of 3 chord nightmare people music theory.
@silversurfer21568 күн бұрын
The use of out of key chords is shockingly simple. I thought there was going to be some big explanation.
@Dude_Guyman8 күн бұрын
I hear words, but I don't know what he's talking about. I have "written" many "songs" and I have no idea what "key" any of them are in.
@zombieguitar8 күн бұрын
Well that's the purpose of this video. It's never too late to learn 🤘
@stevec99727 күн бұрын
Well I'm glad I've been learning the theory & circle etc. from years of watching, Understanding what your talking about is so much better🫡
