This is actually the best explanation I have heard of the Nashville number system. I have been watching numerous music theory videos that went completely over my head and then I just stumble over this. Thanks!

Very good introduction to music theory. I'm trying to teach myself to play the piano and to sing, and every little bit of music theory I learn makes my practice much more focused and there's a greater understanding of what I'm actually doing when trying to sing a song or even just do warm-ups. Thank you for making these videos! I hope you have a great Christmas and New Year's!

Two questions: 1) What constitutions a diminished chord? 2) How do the key chords apply to singing?
@kaizenmusicstudio2 жыл бұрын
1. A dimished chord is built on a minor chord, with a flatted fifth. So, a minor third and a diminished fifth. 2. these chords will be the harmonies that you are singing over in any given key. If you're in the key of C, all the chords will be in the key of C and only use the 7 notes in the key of C. And you will be singing a melody of any of those 7 notes over the chords.

Great video. As the leader of a Praise Band of a small church, this video will help me explain music theory to our female singers, most of which have no musical background. However, you did not really explain what a diminished chord (6 position) was and that can be confusing to someone with no musical background. Also, I agree with the comment below, why is it important for singers to know chord theory? Subscribed.

Thank you Ramsey for all the effort and videos you upload! I have recently joined the choir to make my daughter happy as that was her dream. So far my parents totally demonized notes, rythm and music in general so I am trying to overcome a huge block! in the age of 37 just learning notes, chords and how to sing. If only I was half as good as I find it fun and interesting. But I ram on :-D

This made my head spin! Only thing I got out of it was a third and a fifth away from c! Everything else and the 1645 was just mind boggling. Obviously the person who designed this theory was not a mathematician!

Music theory as always alluded and frustrated me, but because of the way you broke this down I genuinely think I’m beginning to understand the basics. This is gonna help me improve so much as a vocalist and song writer. Thank you very much!

Quick question ( from an older beginner); If i am looking to make my own music, does it mean that the Pianist will use the same chords to play in the song, with the chordd i will likely use on my guitar? Im one step away from resolving a matter. I write songs and im getting better at the guitar and look forward to using a pianist someday, when im ready to put instruments in. Thanks. I subscribed.

Where is the secret chord? You know...... the one David played?
@thebeekbn76694 ай бұрын
I guess it’s still a secret, but apparently it goes like this, the fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift…

(Genuine Question): I know it was mentioned jokingly, but what's wrong with Ken? Besides his personality and all that. I am obviously here because I want to work on singing and I try hard to avoid misinformation. He is certainly gimmicky.
