I know you didn't talk about the song from a theological standpoint, but what amazes me is that I've seen this song reacted to by at least 3 different faith positions (atheist, Christian, and Muslim) and all of them were like "yup, that makes total sense." Bo's so good that he can put words into the MOUTH OF GOD and have people from such disparate religious views all relate to it and agree and fit it into their own worldview. It's one of my top 10 Bo songs (it was top 5 before Inside came out).

Always wonderful to see a new reaction to Bo's work, and haven't seen many folks reacting from a therapist point of view. I'd love to see your reaction sometime to the song 'Shine Through' by The Stupendium. It's tangentially related to the video game 'Life is Strange: True Colors', but the song is focused on the themes of the game -- particularly, emotions (with a frame of colors and music), and has a powerful message near the end of the song regarding grief. The song's been quite helpful to one of my friends recently as he deals with the death of his dog, as he tries to go through the grieving process there.

If you are doing Bo you really need to look at Tim Minchin. (Bo says Tim was his inspiration). Tim has mentioned the difference between English speaking audiences' humor in Australia/New Zealand, the U.K. and the United States/Canada in the responses to his comedy. Suggestions - Prejudice, Thank You God, If I Didn't Have You, Lullaby, Inflatable You, Rock N Roll Nerd, 5 Poufs and 2 Pianos make a nice start. Since Tim also sings and acts, composes lyrics and music for Broadway and West End shows, and has non comedic songs he is in a bit different category. He is still active and currently touring in the U.K. Non comedic songs of his that also have mental health issues in them include Airport Piano and I'll Take Lonely Tonight.

Idk if Bo is into semi-obscure political theory- you know, like all the cool kids are 😉😆)- but the line “… if you earn [a gods love], you won’t need it” reminds me of the writings of Malatesta, an anarchist activist and political writer from the 19th century. One of his core tenets was that “the means must agree with the ends”. He talks a lot about how the process of actually doing the work is what creates the kind of people and societies that are capable of existing in that society. I feel like that is a lot of what he’s saying. Anyway, Malatesta is worth checking out if you’re interested. To be a cool kid lol

I'd didn't think I'd get anarchist writing suggestions from a youtube comment but I'm here for it. What a great quote, I'm going to have to check it out.

Why would you watch a video with lyrics so far in advance. That shit ruins songs.
