This week I am posting a song written by Gary Duty called "Bigger Barns."
"Bigger Barns"
The ground of a certain rich man brought forth abundantly
His barns were filled 'till they couldn't hold anymore
With a heart filled with pride, he said I'll just build bigger barns
He didn't take into count what lay in store.
The lesson we should learn is that our life does not consist
In the abundance of the things that we possess
There's precious little time between the cradle and the grave
We'll only take what's done for Christ and leave the rest.
So lay your treasures up in heaven where a moth cannot destroy
Where thieves can't steal and rust can do no harm
Build on a firm foundation gold and silver and precious stones
Don't spend your whole life building bigger barns.
When our work here is over before the Saviour's throne we'll stand
And give account of how we've done our part
Will we find we've won a crown to lay at His precious feet
Or that we've spent our whole life building bigger barns.
