Hi guys! Thank you for your sincere reaction! Have you noticed that Dimash is the main solder right from the very beginning of the war scene, when he was shot in the arm, many people miss that? When I first watched this MV, it broke me, I became very emotional, it was heart wrenching, to say the least! 😢 Dimash has worked very hard for 3 years composing the music for this song, and around 20 days to make this MV. It turned out to be his most valuable MV, in the ideological sense, ever made, a real Masterpiece! I was under the impression that it was the most expensive video ever made, too, but I was corrected. I believe that Dimash deserves THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE, for his selfless hard work and tireless efforts, not only for this MV, but for trying to bring the world together in love, peace and harmony, through his music, MVs and many charities he dedicates his time to. He is a Legend and will go down in History. This is my interpretation only: The mini movie is full of symbolisms, it's the story of 3 youths, and the necklace which was made by the young Dimash and shared with his friends symbolizing lifelong friendship and unity. The Piper grew up and started a war, using the symbol of the necklace as the crest for war. Here is a breakdown of the story, as I see it: 1) Dimash, who was drowning at the beginning and at the end. 2) The Piper, the one who saved Dimash, and who became the leader, and who was killed by Dimash at the end. 3) The young girl, who died in childbirth, became Dimash’s future wife, had two children together; a daughter who was killed by the Piper's army; and the birth of a son at the end, who inherited the necklace from her mother…, they were all torn by the war. For the symbolic aspects, Dimash is showing the different cultures and religions (Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hindi, etc.), through throat singing, which is called the REQUIEM (mass for the souls of the dead), from different religions. The Pilgrim, Shepard or Wise Man at the end of the video was Dimash’s newborn son, born in his image and grows up to guide the Representatives of different religions and race from different Nations to the light, for a new beginning living together in peace, tolerance, love and harmony. I’m choosing life!! 🙏🙏 See you in your next reaction. Love from Canada 💖

Dimash has a very strong moral compass, to such a degree that someone so sensitive could find life very difficult. He will suffer for this belief. You are right he didn't need to act, he felt everything and he particularly loves children and wants to protect them. As the marvelous reacter Fable said, the Pipers of this world WILL come for your children, to lead them with their rhetoric and eventually destroy them, just as you said your veteran friends find out after their service. We must beware the Pipers. Excellent reaction. It still makes me cry.

As far as the necklace, keep in mind that the Commander never "wore" the necklace. He always had it in his hand. He kept it, but obviously it didn't have the "friendship" meaning in which it was given. I absolutely love this video (and cry every time I see it) and am one that believes EVERYONE needs to see it. Thank you so much for the reaction and discussion. Peace!

Also, you might notice that once the pendant is shown to be in the palm of his hand, the pendant is bent. To me, this might be offering a sign that he might corrupt its meaning in the future. Continue to journey in brightness!

The Piper [the older boy who becomes the Commander - as shown in the transition scene from the kids on the beach into the first dark viduals of the Commander] is also similar to "The Pied Piper of Hamelin" -- leading away followers who can't resist... and one of the song lyrics encourages them to break away from following the bad (destructive) influence of the Piper's direction, and instead turn away and escape from wrong to the right direction *see NOTE 2 below for additional/alternative Piper possible representation Part of the irony is that the older boy, who at first saves the younger one [young Dimash], grows to be ruthless (contrary to the innocent youth caring in the rescue) -- and is killed by the grown up younger boy, who in turn is killed and symbolically returned back to the imagery of the waters that would have killed him if he had not been rescued by the youth version of the Piper The figures walking through the sands represent the victims of all races, people, and religions -- i.e. war and intolerance plays no favorites, and all end up suffering and dying needlessly... The symbol, passed on to the to the grown up little girl's baby [who also represents fresh innocence, and our future generations], is also a reminder that we pass along to our children -- so will we pass them our hopes that they can retain their original intentions of the symbol [friendship, peace, tolerance, and caring], or does we pass along our misguided directions [hatred, control, destruction, intolerance of those that don't follow our control and beliefs]. What future are we leaving for the children... NOTE: Merriam-Webster - Definition of Pied Piper 1: one that offers strong but delusive enticement 2: a leader who makes irresponsible promises 3: a charismatic person who attracts followers NOTE 2: Pipers are also the soldiers who play their instruments [fife, bagpipes, etc.] during battles to encourage the forward movement of the troops -- although this would be a weaker consideration in the "Piper" reference since the musical pipers are just assigned soldiers, and are not the actual leaders or instigators for war. The reason I consider this a weaker potential reference for "Piper(s)" is because, since they aren't the actual leaders driving the battle, even if they "fall" in battle, that doesn't stop the troop movement forward -- the soldiers would still continue forward as ordered regardless of whether the Piper(s) is in front or not NOTE 3: It's easy to miss the initial connection between the kids and the first appearance of the military Commander -- but if you notice (on the beach), the older boy has crushed and bent his gifted symbol; which then appears next to his hand on the book when the shot first introduces the adult Commander into the story [the gifted symbol on the book is also bent] -- and the Commander has converted the symbol as a sign of control rather than friendship (as seen on the military arms, caps, etc.) NOTE 4: Some people seem confused about which adult is the grown up version of the 3 kids... one easy notation is that the older boy (who did the CPR) never wears the pendant, he only holds it or has it beside his hand at the pulpit. NOTE 5: Many seem to also miss the interaction of the kids on the beach... during the CPR, the girl shows great concern for the boy who was drowning and only stares at him -- the boy doing the CPR avoids looking to the eyes of the boy who nearly drowned, and you can see him glance towards the girl; with almost an annoyed expression about how much she's caring for the younger boy -- sort of like a [paraphrased] "Do I really want to save him if she likes him more than me" -- and you see the same rejection he felt after trying to make his advances on the girl, but she runs to be with the younger boy instead. NOTE 6: Without seeing the original lyrics, it would be hard to decisively determine if some of the lyric words were mispronounced or simply changed or in typos in the subtitle captions -- e.g. Dimash sings "Piper's Falling", but the subtitles show "Piper's failing" (with failing making slightly better logic in that lyrical point context as in a Leader driving people into war is failing his/her people by not protecting, but instead sending them towards death in war -- and as said earlier, in battles, even if the soldier [bagpiper] "falls", that has no affect on the rest of the soldiers continuing to advance... and likewise with the subtitle lyric line about love to share (the ",not shares" may have actually been intended to be ",not shared" as in the love of people that has been withheld because war has no intention to encourage compassion whereas peace would). NOTE 7: Often missed is how the desert scenes shift into an ominous blue windstorm when Dimash decides to go after retaliation and revenge [as if fighting within himself between peace and revenge]... with revenge (as in war) leading only to destruction and death of those that follow that path NOTE 8: Underwater Death Screams -- while it may sound simply like doing screaming rather than singing; he is in fact using the rock/metal vocalist techniques [the "screams" are for the proper intended notes]. In fact, to show he is actually using controlled singing, you can hear where he decides to add in vibrato during the apparent 'scream' on the 4th "We're Choosing Life" belt... and on the final one, his vocal cords relax smoothly into a transition into the operatic aria style climax NOTE 9: Dichotomy plays fully throughout the story -- visually, vocally, and combined -- and also weaves throughout the story structure, narrative, emotions, and backgrounds

The necklace symbol is the pointer of a sundial. This brings in time, the evolution of time…
@EvaSzecsi2 жыл бұрын
The symbol is not bent! Neither in his hand nor on the book!
@BillTarling2 жыл бұрын
@@MrKellyDC - actually (even though some streamers have tried saying it's the pointer on a sundial), it's not... First off it would be too small for the main pointer on a sundial... next it's also the wrong metal and sturdiness (far too flimsy)... It looks similar to some old navigational sundial compass pointers -- but again it's far too flimsy -- plus you would definitely not want to carry around that sharp of a point while trekking and also, it doesn't have the mounting pivots for attachment into a navigational compass The actual piece [aside from any symbolism or lack thereof intended in the video] is closer to likely being either a part as would be used in some older mechanical locks [e.g. the pivot hub plat, or a lever release] -- or it may be a park from a larger clock [e.g. wither a release, timing gear brake or gear step]... Either lock or clock [or some other mechanical function] would also make sense given the position of the fastening or pivot hole position In first viewing of the video, my first though was that the symbol looked like a wing [e.g. eagle wing], but that wasn't based on anything specific, just first impression... It's also quite possible the object was selected for its rather simplified shape itself [i.e. doesn't really look like a symbol of any specific country, religious, or fanatical source] -- which would allow it to simply represent a fictional faction which could happen anywhere Only strange part I found was that they uses a piece without a rounded [blunt] point -- strictly for a safety and comfort aspect [since something that large with that sharp of a point being worn for years could cause a few mishaps] That's also why it most likely wouldn't be directly made for a sundial -- even their points are rounded or blunted a little so as not to accidentally pierce or impale

Dimash conveys this message beautifully. There are many symbols in this video and it is incredible to see. I am not an expert, but I’ve heard that the necklace was an ancient sailing compass. The suggestion being that Piper’s compass was somehow bent or broken. The woman was the girl on the beach. Piper saved Dimash at the beginning. The little girl was the daughter of Dimash and the girl. Must sleep now! Prayers for peace from Canada

This music video is like an iron fist to the face to make us wake up from our indolence, our laziness, our materialism, our irresponsibility. It makes us see what war really means. Dimash has created a gigantic work of art, of immeasurable human value and philosophical depth. And he has presented it to us through a moving, shocking, devastatingly intense performance. Only a genius could have created something like this.

Thanks for your sensitive reaction to this masterpiece!! I’m enclosing parts of a deep and knowledgeable analysis by Heiderose Kober: Everything Dimash does is intentional, and this piece has layers that would take a dissertation to unravel. I only touch on some of what struck me in the symbolism. The music is a dissertation all by itself. The pendant is an interesting element. It is a gnomon from a maritime compass sundial. This triangular blade is attached to the sundial, casting a shadow on the sundial while the perforated pinhole projects the image of the sun onto the dial. It was used for both timekeeping and navigation, with the gnomon oriented to True North. (Thank you, Snarky Tart for that information). In the MV, the child who later becomes the military commander never puts on the necklace. After Dimash, the boy, gives his friend the pendant, the camera focuses on his hand and shows that his friend has bent the gnomon in anger over being rejected by the girl. Thus bent, it can never be oriented to True North, and he has lost his moral compass. Later, we see a version of the gnomon as the military insignia on the uniforms of the commander and his soldiers, but distorted and without the hole that allows light to shine through rendering it useless as a compass. When we lose the original intent of a symbol by twisting it into something it is not or by just paying lip service, it no longer has any spiritual meaning. At best it becomes a useless prop, at worst it is used to mislead and manipulate people.

Ha Ha we all start thinking about prosaic things like “how much did this MV cost”. And then Dimash has a way of flipping the pan. He gives us a ride from the golden childhood, friendship, he introduces us to the harshness of war. He highlights, with his voice, with the images, the contradiction between our desire for peace and the decisions we make in extreme moments. The spiritual storm that forms in our conscience when we decide between the life and death of another. He puts the Qur'an, the Cross and the Hebrews marching together... a new look. Birth, hope. Death, pain. All cycles of life. And he ends with an illuminated image that we spend hours discussing if it is the hope of our future or the life beyond... he commands us from the surface to the bottom. He is a genius. Dimash is only 28! . I don't know if he is "not human", I say it a bit jokingly. And I'm also a little serious...

Great format for this particular piece of art: Two reactors discussing The Story Of One Sky are getting so much more out of this dense and rich and overwhelming music video and help the viewers with their own interpretation. One thing that I got from the xth time watching: The girl that was killed was Dimash's daughter; she was shown in the arms of her mother in a previous scene, but almost unrecognizable because she is deeply protected between her mother's arms, who is wearing the necklace. The mother is the same woman who is giving birth lateron. Also, the shape of the piece of metal on the necklace appears on the uniform of the commander.

Rosalie, I am so pleased to see you sharing this video with someone, to get their perspective on the acting and cinematography. Yes, the subject of war and suffering is very important to Dimash, he speaks out against war, which is not always a safe thing to do, but as you said people have been fighting with people throughout history, many reactors are thinking that this is specifically about current events, but this is a three year project of Dimash. The suffering of children tremendously upsets him, they are innocent. Thank you both for sharing this video, a North Carolina Dear. Oh, I agree about how children are taught in the US, it’s an honorable thing to serve your country, but I have to say that since 2020, when I was able to get off the hamster wheel, my whole perspective of humanity and government leaders has changed. People, some not all, are too quick to join in an angry crowd, when, as Rosalie pointed out, they may not even know what it’s about. Being 55, and questioning what I thought I knew, how I felt secure because of living in the US, never, ever in my life has the phrase Ignorance Is Bliss been more true, unfortunately I am not ignorant, or too busy, or naive anymore, I am just really disappointed, kind of heartbroken. Thank you Brandon and Rosalie ❤

The necklace pendant is a gnomon, the projecting piece in a sundial used to calculate time. In the video, I suppose it is used to depict the passage of time as well as symbolizing the fragility of life. There isn’t much time to waste, thus we should make the right decision to choose life.

Gnomons are often mounted on old nautical compasses, which would then indicate both the time (time is getting short), and the direction the holder is going (are we going the right way?)

From my point of view, centuries and millenniums have passed and we as humanity has not really evolved, from the beginning up to now we continue to fight against each other for many different reasons forgetting the love, respect and all things that really matter.Even when everyone is doing it, what is wrong is wrong, This masterpiece has shaken all of us, it is a plea for peace, Dimash scream is a desperate call to think for ourselves and change our sad destiny if we continue to follow mistaken leaders or symbols that just divide us and have made us lose the horizon. Love is the answer to live a better and fair life for everybody. What a pain to see us, as humanity, reflected in this MV. 🥹🥲🌹💔🎤🔝

Thank you, this is probably the best reaction to this MV that I have seen! You reminded me of Horace's quote: "dulce et decorum est pro patria mori" (it is sweet and fitting to die for one's country). Please note that the antagonist never put the amulet/gnomon around his neck; only Dimash and the girl/his wife did so. The antagonist always held the amulet in his hand, bent it, and then turned it to face downwards, as depicted in his emblem. Dimash and the girl/his wife (both she and Dimash wear wedding bands) always wear it upright to resemble a 'P". I also think we tend to overlook the significance of the emblem on Dimash's sleeve. It is clearly relevant since the light reflects directly on it as he is drowning. To me it has several meanings - as does the gnomon mentioned in the other comments - both in terms of mathematics (inverted A, meaning "for all") and astronomical (pair of compasses, used in navigation etc), but mostly it resembles the position of the antagonists body lying on the table, as well as that of the boy on the beach as he is being resuscitated. Notice that, as Dimash is sinking below the water and the light reflects on the emblem, the very next scene is of the antagonist's body on the table. Lastly, the more I look at this MV the more I think that Dimash rewrote and contemporized the ancient Slavic myth of Perun and Veles. Veles is the eternal opponent of the supreme thunder god, Perun, who is described as a ruling god of war who punishes by death in battle. Veles is a god of the Earth and Water and the Underworld, and acts as the guardian and shepherd of the people (and especially of musicians and poets). In Dimash's version Veles and Perun are friends/brothers, but are both in love with the same girl. The girl, however, marries Veles and Perun blames Veles for this rejection since he is, after all, the saviour/supreme god. Over the years, the boys grow apart to become opposing forces. Then Perun once again strikes against Veles for a perceived transgression by reigning war (/thunderbolts) on him, but this time he strikes against Veles's child and Veles decides to fight Perun, rather than run and hide as he usually does. Amidst the great storm that ensues, Veles kills Perun, but then also loses his own life. However, Veles is again reincarnated - this time as his son who is born amidst all this chaos in the Underworld (in the cavern). The son now carries the legacy of both Veles and Perun and can lead the people of the earth into the new dawn where all are united and war is conquered. This then breaks the eternal cycle of war and peace. This is just my impression, I realise this is a reach and I might be way off, but it explains so many details including the water theme and the gnomon which also resembles Perun's axe/amulet. This MV is so steeped in meaning and symbolism that it will take a thesis to flesh out all the deeply imbedded details!

There are quite a lot of visual accents in the video on the patches both on the sleeve of the Dictator and on the sleeve of Dimash's character. However, few people pay attention to this, because if it is easy to interpret the emblem on the sleeve of the dictator, then we do not know exactly how to interpret the emblem on the sleeve of Dimash. My subjective interpretation of this: the emblem on Dimash's sleeve is a complex construction of interweaving circles and sharp corners. I understand this in such a way that although the character of Dimash is a kind soul, opposing the Dictator, he is not at all on the good side, since War has no good sides at all. His side is represented by the same Piper, with false confused ideas. Waldenberg, in which the action takes place, is the hometown of both characters, to which their childhood passed (or our entire planet is our common home, for we live under the same sky). Thus, any war is a civil war built on false ideals. In addition, the self-name of the city refers to the real German city of Waldenburg, completely destroyed by the allied forces. That is, the war does not have a good side - all participants in the war bring destruction, bring evil.
@lucillehermann89422 жыл бұрын
@@ju1ietta Thank you! I totally agree - nothing in this mv is just one thing. This is also why I think that all this is based on the ancient myth - neither Perun, nor Veles are all good or all bad. (This is also why in the trailer for the mv it says that when you look into the eyes of your enemy you expect to see the enemy, but instead you are the enemy to them - hence you see the same look as is in your own eyes. ) Veles and Perun lived under the same sky - up high and down below - and both protected the people in different ways. Ancient mythology was about making sense of these ambiguities and observed contradictions, and of course, the cyclical patterns of nature. Waldenberg is also the place where in the allied forces’ eagerness to finally defeat the Nazis they more than just destroyed the city, they also nearly decimated the civilian (mostly woman and children) population - so yes, once again the ambiguity of neither force being completely innocent when it comes to war.

Dimash has spoken openly against war for quite a few years, wrote a song called War and Peace, and has expressed that because of a few war minded people, many have to suffer. He refers in particular to children towards whom he is very tender, and he hates to see them suffer. Also his dance team and his show organizer were from Ukraine, and he lost them due to the current conflict. It must be very personal. Thank you for a great analysis and reaction!

Dimash did not experience war in his country. However, his country suffered terrible periods specially since before WWI and under the period that was part of the Soviet Union. The country got the independence when the Soviet Union felt and Dimash was a baby. He is very much against war and he even composed a song, War and Peace, that you can see. It took Dimash 3 years to composed this song. He also wrote the scrip. He said that he suffered a lot while writing and performing this short film. Take care. ❤️🙏🕊

If I can add, it's not particulary about War, that is an argument here, but much more for tolerance, dialogue etc between all culture and individuals meanings, for the acceptance, to stop violence, angry and so on, that is useless and unproductive and suffering, to leave together under one sky peacefully with your neighbour, others.
@bl83468 ай бұрын
He's been many times in Ukraine and Russia, so you don't need to experience it yourself to feel the pain... People around him, people who work with him, maybe even his friends do experience it and it's enough

Yes. Dimash married the girl from the beach. The girl with the big teedybear in the hallway, killed by soldiers, was their firstborn.. That building is by the way Dimashes home filled with relatives/neighbors. In one scene you see him making it back to that house/home (where his daughter and pregnant wife lives), standing outside the building, and seing that it has been attacked... He goes in and find they are all dead in that corridor/hallway... And he finds his little girl lying on the floor in one of the rooms shot to death... His wife is however hidden away and has to give birth in the middle of all this horrendousness.. And you can also see that she actually dies in childbirth.. She is sitting dead in the background when we see the newborn baby boy taken from her. So the neckless is passed on from his mother to the orphan, who grows up as a split image of his father. And becomes a true Leader, uniting and leading humankind forward to peace, to co-existing in harmony, to light.... 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 Dimash is a true peace-bearer. His mission is to use this platform that he has been given (due to his ✨DIVINE✨ voice and pure soul), to UNITE people from ALL walks of life and with ALL our differences.. And in this artproject : he is BEGGING the world to make a halt. To start a change, a new corse forward. He shows us : there are no winnings in wars... only brutal, unbearable pain and loss...

I don't see many people mentioning how the boy who rescued Dimash is rejected by the girl on the beach. The boy is jealous of Dimash, and that's why he didn't willingly accept the necklace. I can't help but think that moment was the first part of his journey down the path he chose. There's also a very brief clip of a woman and her daughter, and the woman is wearing the necklace Dimash gave her on the beach. They are Dimash's wife and daughter. As the scene cuts from the little girl in the hallway, you can hear a gun cocking, and you know she's going to die. Dimash finds his dead daughter, while cut scenes of his wife giving birth to their son occur. What isn't plainly shown is his wife dies during childbirth, but you can see her motionless body as the baby is lifted up. This is why he's wearing her necklace in the last scene of him as a baby. At the end of the video, the baby is grown, and leading a pilgrimage of all religions to a place of peace and harmony.

I can't fully give you the symbolism of the necklase but, it's call a gnomon, ( a pinhole gnomon to be exact) the part of the sundial that casts the shadow to tell the time. It also has a hole in it which has something to do with looking forward and backward in time. So I believe its used in the MV to explain the back and forth of events in the video. When the mv starts, you see the boy who becomes the Piper give odd looks to the girl as he tries to resuscitate Dimash, he gives that same look as he and the girl go off a bit to the side, as if the boy asked the girl if she liked him or Dimash, and she chose Dimash. That moment seems to have gotten to him and may have been a changing point in his devlopement. Once Dimash found his daughter dead in their apartment building, he assumed that his pregnant wife had been killed too. That's the moment he dicided to go after his childhood friend and sacrifice himself when he thought he had nothing left to live for. His newborn son grows up to be the Dimash charactor at the end leading all the religious groups into the light of Life. Love from a Disciple of Dimash, Los Angeles Chapter................

Hi guys, thank you, for your reaction. I read an interesting comment that explains quite a few symbols from Dimash's video, so I'm attaching it so you can read it. Have a nice day all! Mariaan Buys Mariaan Buys před 1 měsícem (upraveno) With credit to Heiderose Kober for this fantastic written piece: This is subtitled "Requiem” but it is also a vision and a call to action. Dimash is steeped in sacred music and has a deep understanding of the mystic teachings and symbolism of the major world religions as well as Kazakh shamanism. It is not by coincidence that the first performance of this work took place on September 14, 2022, at the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Kazakhstan. The written statement at the end of the video is directly from the “Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together” signed jointly on February 4, 2019, by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmad el-Tayeb. Dimash met and spoke with both men at the September meeting. Everything Dimash does is intentional, and this piece has layers that would take a dissertation to unravel. (Thank you, Snarky Tart for that information). Later, we see a version of the gnomon, but distorted and without the hole that allows light to shine through, as the military insignia on the uniforms of the commander and his soldiers. Contemporary music is also present: With the phrase "We have passed the moment of Imagine," Dimash reminds us that we are past the sentiments evoked by the song "Imagine" by John Lennon. It is time to stop dreaming about a world of peace and harmony. If we choose life, if we wish for peace, if we want a world without war for our children and grandchildren, we must act and take up the long hard path up the mountain towards the light. It is the only way. The storyline is a very human one: we start as innocents until our hearts are broken, we fail, or our dreams are not realized. If in our pain and disappointment, we turn to anger and blame instead of acceptance, power instead of love, greed and envy instead of generosity, hatred instead of forgiveness, and revenge instead of justice, we sow the seeds for conflicts that can turn into war. The Piper's call is seductive as it promises redress for our grievances, control over our circumstances, and power over those who thwarted us, and this appeals to our wounded ego. However, let's remember that the Piper is a symbolic figure of Death from the Middle Ages, often used as a metaphor for trusting and following charismatic but dangerous and malevolent leaders to certain death. Even if we resist, as the adult Dimash character does, we often employ the same methods and weaponry as the Piper, and thus those who fight back betray peace as well because peace cannot be won through violence. That is the dilemma of those of us who did not start the war, who do not support the war, but are forced to respond in order to defend ourselves and those we love. How can we rid the world of evil without becoming what we fight against? The burning sign "Waldenberg" is a reference to the end of WWII when the US Army destroyed the last of the resistance by the German Wehrmacht to end the war in April 1945. As a native German, I have seen the aftermath of war as I was born a few years later when much of Germany was still in rubble. Waldenburg is only 28 miles from my hometown and was completely destroyed as you can see from the picture. Many of the dead in those bombed out buildings were women and children. The good guys defeated evil but at what price? iowaculture.gov/history/education/educator-resources/primary-source-sets/world-war-ii/american-troops-move-through The imagery of the denouement is powerful: The cries over the loss of a beloved child and the cries of his wife giving birth to new life are presented as a call-and-response grounded by a powerful Om chant that creates a sacred space, reminding us that death and life are both sacraments and are interwoven. Dimash's vocalization and the pilgrims representing world religions and religious leaders, past and present, walking together shift the narrative toward the final conflict and finally redemption. When Dimash’s character decides to avenge the murder of his daughter, his state of consciousness is reflected in the darkening sky with lightning bolts of anger accompanying the storm of his emotions that buffet the pilgrims. The fog of war obscures the light. When he is killed after exacting retribution, he is dropped back into the "sacred womb" of Earth, the ocean of love and mercy, and is cleansed of the old hatreds and grievances that only bring more death and suffering. He breaks the wheel of endless war and suffering by choosing life. Dimash's scream of “we’re choosing life” is that of giving birth: the old earthly consciousness of an eye for an eye has to die to make way for a new spiritual consciousness that embraces all life. Soul is breaking free to return to its natural state of love and purity as exemplified by the images of the children and the newborn baby. The blowing of the shofar signals God's mercy for humankind when it turns from wrong to right: in the Zohar, the book of Jewish mysticism, it says: “When human beings repent of their sins, they blow the shofar on earth. Its sound ascends On High and awakens the heavenly shofar, and so mercy is aroused and judgment is removed.” Reborn as a leader for peace and love, Dimash's character in the form of his son becomes a guide for all of mankind on our shared journey up the mountain towards the light of God, however we may interpret or name the divine. We are all on the same path, even if our personal narratives, cultural heritage, and spiritual orientations are very different from one another. By focusing on our common destination rather than on our differences, we can walk together in peace and love and mutual respect. Carl Jung wrote: “Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious. The most terrifying thing is to accept oneself completely. Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” This is what Dimash has done with this work; he has made the darkness conscious. We can only raise our individual and collective consciousness by bringing to light what needs to be healed in our lives and our world, and then we need to work together to restore wholeness to what is broken and bring about peace and unity, one step at a time. We don’t have to wait. We can start right now. As the hymn tells us: "Let there peace in the world, and let it begin with me." Baraka Bashad. ______________________________________________ I just want to add, what is so fitting about this mv is that Dimash used a Kazakh singing technique called 'komeymen aytu', the tribal vocalization usually used by women in Kazakh funeral ceremonies. It was the same technique he used in Sinful Passion that he sang as a tribute to the deceased singer of the group A-Studio with whom he performed.

I have somewhat different information about Waldenburg. This city cannot be interpreted as the last stronghold of Nazism. By the end of the war, there was almost no male population there, there was no military infrastructure. It was a peaceful city, destroyed by the allied forces for a far-fetched reason. In this context, Dimash's message is very clear: war has no good side, all participants bring destruction and pain, all are conductors of evil. Both characters are residents of this city. They are BOTH destroying their common home. Since this city is a metaphor for the entire planet (we all live under the same sky), Dimash's message becomes even more global.

@@Eannemarie739 In any case, civilians were the main victims of these bombings. Therefore, the message from the shots with the flaming sign "Waldenberg" remains the same: all sides of the bloody civil strife bring evil, death, destruction. Both clash heroes are destroying their own city. ☮️

Thank you so much for this reaction/ analysis. It was so interesting. Even though Dimash and the director had one particular meaning of the story, it is no right or wrong in our approach. I liked yours. Others have probably told you that this topic is very important to Dimash. Worldwide peace. And I think he means that peace starts with ourselves and we all have a responsibility. Kazakhstan have had a bloody and troubled past, but there is peace there now.

Great reactions, guys, our beloved Dimash! May I make one suggestion? I thought the music being played while the two of you were talking was simply too much. After this very intense masterpiece, I think we all needed to cleanse our palates, so to speak. But it felt like instead of getting sherbet, we received something very spicy. Just a suggestion. (Oh, I also do not interpret Dimash's performances as ever being "staged"! I see Dimash as always being very authentic and real.)

** 35K people from 68 countries came together in love, in solidarity, in peace in an Almaty, KZ stadium on 9-23-22 for the 4 hour concert (31 songs, I'm told) given by our young Kazakh musician who touches our souls while sharing his. First in Dubai, then Dusseldorf & Prague before he sang War & Peace, DQ adamantly spoke out for peace. He talked about how children are smarter (wiser) than adults even though adults try to teach them everything they think they need to live BUT we are the ones who need to learn or relearn the most important things. We need to "learn to share again, learn to share again the love, not shares (virtual shares?), learn to live again" because "we've passed the moment of 'Imagine' world is the feast." What have we done since those days of plenty besides degrade our planet, let folks starve/die when we should have been saving them & each other and this planet? "Times up," Humans! It's "time to save the Earth" & our future if possible! We are the ones who must now become like the little children and love each other unconditionally & see we live under one sky. Yes, those present said he told them his heart was breaking as he recorded The Story of One Sky. DQ is a pure spirit whose being exudes unconditional love for all people. Those are real cries we hear & on 9-23-22 he left tears & every bit of his heart and soul on the stage after singing this. What a phenomenally empathetic altruistic human being! Please pray that he be protected from all vindictive crazy Pied Pipers & the hoards of hateful minions who've been brainwashed to believe this narcissistic ideology. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2aukKObZ8x6hqeCJ Below please read his brief speech that he gave to the audience before singing his newest composition, "The Story of One Sky" on Almaty 9-23-22. Sending Love & Solidarity to you & yours, Dears, and praying for peace. "Many thanks dear friends, before I perform the next song, let me say a few words. Thank you very much. We, the people sitting in this stadium, each of us is different, not totally alike one another, but we are all God's children, each of us with different talents. And, as I mentioned just now, right now is a bad time. In fact, I am not satisfied with the present situation. I have not seen how such situations evolved in the past, therefore I don't know what will happen next. But many people are suffering today because of a few individuals, it's really true. We, we the adults, consider ourselves to be "smarter" than the small children and innocents, but while we do our best to teach and educate our children, we forget that we also have some things to learn from those children. They are pure-hearted, kind, friendly, untainted and without egos and their love for people are pure. Young children have such qualities. I started writing this song I'm about to perform, three years ago. Generally speaking, my main purpose in writing this work is to call for peace in the world. It's a small composition that has burst out from deep within my heart. To tell you truth, many thanks to god and with your wishes I traveled to many parts of the world and met many different people during my tours. One thing I understood is that if you look at ordinary people, there is no such thing as a bad nationality, there is no bad nationality! I don't need to tell you what you already know about the reason for mentioning the topic of nationality here... Let there be peace in the world, Let there be peace. Let there be no war. Let no people, let no nationality, let no country suffer! Because after all, ordinary individuals, ordinary people are not at fault. The truth of the matter is, no ordinary person is guilty of starting a war! That's why the next song I'll be performing in your honor is about our common fate under one sky, it's called "The Story of One Sky". Hope you like it." kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3mamZuJrJt2nLc

Kazakhstan suffered from 200 years of rule by the Soviet Union. They lost millions of people from famine in the Great War when all their men of fighting age were taken and there was no one to work the fields. Kazakhstan only gained it's independence 30 years ago. He did say that he suffered making this video and I would presume he meant mentally, especially the scene where he finds his daughter killed by the opposing army as Dimash loves children and frequently gives a speech before he performs War and Peace stating that a few adults should not have the power to cause misery to millions of children.
