Musical Museum Live - July 2021 - David Lobban

Join the Musical Museum for a lively and entertaining Theatre Organ concert, featuring consummate cinema organist David Lobban for the very first time at the console of our Mighty Wurlitzer. David is in his 44th year as a professional musician - he has played at the Tower Ballroom Blackpool for 23 years and during his long and prestigious career has entertained audiences in Canada, the US, the Far East and Europe. This is a real treat for me as this is my first opportunity to see and hear David in action. Unfortunately, I have missed his days In the USA and the Tower Ballroom Blackpool. I remember hearing Phil Kelsall speak very highly, of David’s playing at the tower. I believe David is one of our most valued Organists, as many of you will know he is a regular watcher of the concerts at the museum and often has made some very encouraging remarks for other organists. He is also actively involved in not only being an artist on the organ circuit but is involved in assisting with organ preservation work also. Thank you for a great concert.

I very much enjoyed this concert; the organ sounds great and really seems to suit David's playing style. I liked the variety of the programme and especially enjoyed David's interpretation of "It Can't Be Wrong," otherwise known as the theme from the film "Now Voyager," at 21:00 into the video. I hope I can get to hear David play live at the Musical Museum in the future.
