What I love about musical theater is the way they prioritize the communication of the emotion over the exact musical accuracy, and it always works so well. Of course they are absurdly talented singers, but really being able to belt out a note that feels right even if its a little sharp or flat is really really really impressive, and it always makes the performance feel so much more alive than say a studio recording

I also love the "He Lives in You" song and LK2. The song has an interesting history because it was originally part of the 1995 "Rhythm of the Pride Lands" album and then "He Lives in You/They Live in You" was used in the Broadway show along with other songs from the album: "One by One"; "Lala" (which became "Endless Night"); "Lea Halalela (Holyland)" (see "Shadowland"), and an arrangement of "the lion sleeps to night"

I mean, Michael Crawford was the OG stage Phantom, and his Phantom got me through HS with my sanity intact. But fast forward 2 and a half decades when I watched the 25th Anniversary of POTO at Royal Albert Hall here on YT, and I was blown away by Ramin and Sierra! Damn, Ramin had me absolutely crushing (😍) with his "Music of the Night," and Sierra's "Wishing" version had me in tears. Sarah Brightman could never put me in that headspace.

That chemistry is insane! 😅😉 And speaking of all the feels...including the "Point of No Return" variety: I read Tarot, and because of the way I tend to interpret both the Lovers and Devil cards, I could come up with soooooo much commentary on Erik's line of "You try my patience! Make your choice!" Because both of those cards are all about choices/consequences thereof, etc.....and Christine is probably dealing with ALL the feels (including ones where she's still probably attracted to Erik on some level bc he's a musician and he gets her -- "but...but...what will society think? 5:38 Oh this just brought back a core memory. A few years ago I was cast as Mush in a production of Newsies at an amateur theater. The first day of rehearsals we were going to learn "Once And For All" with the music director as it was going to be one of the hardest songs in the show. We nailed it. First. Try. The music director went and grabbed the head director (as this was one of her favorite songs from the show) and had us sing it again for her. Nailed it once more and she said she had never gotten that many chills just from a rehearsal. Still one of my favorite shows I've done to date.

It was such a privilege to get to see Sierra Boggess in her original Broadway run as Ariel in The Little Mermaid, and I was ~delighted~ that she was chosen alongside Ramin for the 25th Anniversary special of Phantom. I still, to this day, lament that we never got that Rebecca musical starring her. It would have been INCREDIBLE.

The only thing wrong with your video is that none of the clips were long enough and now I’m left wanting more. Thank you for sharing so many awesome stage moments!!!

Wow - what a great compilation! I teared up at 'He Lives In You' because I once put on a production of The Lion King with an old class of mine and those memories are very dear to me, particularly as I no longer teach. Also, the first clip is something special. I've watched it about 20 times in this sitting alone!

living in Belgium I don't really get the opportunity to go see musicals... But in 2019 I lived in Cambridge for 3 months and went to see The Lion King and Mamma Mia at the West End, I was blown away by both!!!

Glad the 5th Ave's production of Hunchback made the list. EJ and Josh were STUNNING to watch every night from the choir balcony. ❤❤❤ Such a gift to be a small part of this production.

For me it's Colm in the dream cast either hitting that "My Race is not yet run!" (he just says it like the challenge to Javert it is before he even gets to threatening him) or Soliloquy ( What have i done)

So 10:04 just entered my head and decided to play on loop and now I’m mildly obsessed with that one line. The singing? Incredible. The instruments doing emotional acrobatics in the background? I’m blown away.

Rlly wish this included the part in the Spongebob musical when he's climbing up the volcano and just absolutely belting out a badass reprise of 'Not a Simple Sponge,' ALL THE WHILE climbing and weaving all over a giant setpiece made of ladders and being encouraged by Sandy and Patrick!! The people that play Spongebob are legends, my local play had 2 and they were both fantastic!! But Ethan Slater is built different for doing it for that long
