I have met in London a few times at a friend's house where he used to live when in uk. I had the privilege of the back stage too and private mehfils. First show at the Albert Hall in 1976. Used to live in Holland but travelled just to see the show and best favourite ghazal maestro. This was my formice. He said he will sing. Just as I walked the stage away,he started this magnificent nagma. I was over the moon to see him so close. To c shukat tabla. An amazing show. Memorable

Its not just the angelic voice of the maestro and his careful selection of the raags to sing those ghazals , obviously he is par excellence in this regard, but one has to pay tribute to those clossal poets as well who created such kind of poetry in a beautiful language which blended perfectly to be sung artfully. Am 45 yrs old. I know all of menhdi hassan ghazals, inafact, ghulam ali, jagjeet even pankaj udhas too... And tried to introduced these Immmortal to my hubby. Nothing nope.Nada. I tried it to my daughter. Same. But since a week she is listening ranjish hi sahi on coke Studio.. So, today I introduced her to original. Ps: koi ummeed mat rakho, wo teen ager hai. Am sorry. My parenting is bad.
