while working on the Movie Version of "Into the woods", Stephen Sondheim wrote a new song for Meryl Streep to sing. After Stephen played the Song for her, Meryl asked him, if he could sign her copy of the notes for that song. He signed it with: Don't Fuck it up! -Stephen Sondheim

A) I'm not sure if I'm proud or disappointed that I knew all these but 7 & 9. B) I can't imagine Gypsy without Rose's Turn!! C) He has been called Steve-O. By me. Not to his face. But I've said it.

You are mostly right. But the Officer Krupke lyric was only changed for the cast album and the film. Not changed in original Broadway production!

After reading "Finishing The Hat", Iv'e realized just how many of these facts are from the book😂 Too bad "Look I Made A Hat" isn't at my library.

On your recommendation I bought Look I Made a Hat & Finishing the Hat as Christmas gifts to myself back early this year. As I am away from home for Christmas & New Years, I have them to open & read on 3rd January 2017. Thank you for your work, I intend to donate to your Patreon page, I just need to work out how much Christmas has cost me & do what I can.

Even though Tony and Maria sing the same melody, they do not sing in unison, making it two different lines, and therefore a quintet.

I just told my music appreciation class today about #2 :-D I said it is probably the only time that something has been approved by censorship. I also played "Tonight," which I insist on calling an *ensemble number.* Also, don't the Jets and Sharks essentially sing the same thing? So wouldn't it be a "trio" if anything? Fun fact about Finishing the Hat and Look I Made the Hat: in the West Side Story section, he wrote about some of the cut music, for which he thought Lenny had written subpar lyrics, was used in Lenny's Chichester Psalms, and that the fact they were in Latin helped. THEY'RE IN HEBREW, STEPHEN!!!! D-:

A quintet is a quintet because there are five instruments or voices involved. It doesn't matter if some , or indeed all, are playing or singing the same melody.

The "Company" related "Things" and the swimming pool tiles" related "Things" have captured my attention, but only those two "Things." Then again I only agreed to watch this because it was only 4 minutes long. But believe me: This doesn't mean I love Stephan Sondheim any less. Thanks for posting!

Mother said, "Straight ahead, Not to delay or be misled." I should have heeded Her advice... But Sondheim seemed so nice. And Sondheim showed me things Many beautiful things, That I hadn't thought to explore. They were off my path, So I never had dared. I had been so careful, I never had cared And Sondheim made me feel excited- Well, excited and scared. When Sondheim said, "Come in!" With that sickening grin, How could I know what was in store? Once Sondheim's teeth were bared, Though, I really got scared- Well, excited and scared- But Sondheim drew me close And Sondheim swallowed me down, Down a dark slimy path Where lie secrets that I never want to know And when everything familiar seems to disappear forever At the end of the path was granny once again So we lie in the dark till MusicalTheatreMash came and set us free And MusicalTheatreMash brought us to the light And we're back at the start And I know things now, Many valuable things, That I hadn't known before: Do not put your faith In a cape and a hood, They will not protect you The way that they should. And take extra care with strangers, Even flowers have their dangers. And though scary is exciting, Nice is different than good. Now I know: Don't be scared. Granny is right, Just be prepared. Isn't it nice to know a lot! And a little bit not...
