For what the show was, every band was unreal. Not only writing bangers but with total strangers under pressure of people they idolized. Justin's vocals in headstrong were fucking deadly, even tho it didn't fit their style as a whole. Personally i thought soulfire sounded the best "produced" but that's just my preference of music and that doesn't take a way from the fact they were all killer.

It's a shame so many of the cooler audience bits and the new song was removed from the show. Also, getting to see the behind the scenes on a lot of this is really cool. Great blog. Good on you for being the bigger person and apologizing. Truthfully as much as I like Nik and Paula, and as talented as they are, they really did come off a bit diva-ish. From Nik not wanting to play your original tiff for Pond Shrieker, Paula referring to the other bands as "pussy" for singing, both of them refusing to learn Headstrong. Quite frankly you were well within your right to be pissed and lash out. So good on you for trying to straighten things out.

@@revengetragedy Finally I see someone saying it. I thought I was going crazy and nobody seemed to mention it in the comments of the original episode. I didn't wanna be that person, but I felt so bad for Justin and Damien during the 'nail studio process' and then it got worse from there. I really hope they did talk about it, cause Justin wasn't the one who needed to apologize AT ALL from what was shown. Ofc we don't know everything that went on, but I got so annoyed about the way Nik and Paula tried to push their own Ideas without willing to compromise whatsoever.

Paula's trash talk reads as humor to me - like exaggerating her opinions but not actually thinking the other artists are less talented or dedicated. I really hope I'm right, 'cause otherwise she's just... it's not a good look. I agree, though, it's really unprofessional behavior and I don't think this was the place for these kinds of jokes. Every band in season 2 was absolutely stacked with talent and everyone deserved respect. Nik & Paula's relationship feels detrimental to the show 'cause they give this toxic united front kind of vibe, and honestly I think less of Nik now for how he's constantly trying to pander to and/or 'protect' Paula. 1.) She's a boss, so she definitely doesn't need anyone looking out for her, and 2.) She's not always right and should be held accountable from time to time. She has serious issues with tactfulness and that's the kind of thing that needs to be challenged now and then. I was really feeling for Justin during that episode 'cause he was right to be frustrated. I think he was right to apologize, too, but ONLY because of the fire ants. They don't justify or erase any of the bad behavior, but they explain it and I can understand showing empathy in that moment. I really hope he got an apology in return, though, 'cause there were some really lame patterns of behavior on N&P's front. ...that's just my overly long opinion no one asked for, though, to be fair.

Beyond all the masterfully executed Graystone (TM) trolling, you guys actually dealt with proper “band drama” (personal challenges, focus on recording WHILE participating at MM) and overcame all of these to put out a sick ass show at the end with amazing execution. Aeris made a scene out of their made-up drama and wrote an admittedly amazing song about it, but and that day clearly skewed all the scoring. This emotional manipulation and the lack of scoring transparency at the end of the show really soured me up and made me a true Graystone fan. Graystone4lyfe!

Thanks, man! I am not trying to be salty, but I think season 3 needs the judges to have a very strict and transparent criteria with no emotional bias behind it. I am not saying Graystone should have won, but I think the scoring itself was random and unbalanced every challenge, and if the judges had a strict criteria, I think the outcome of the show would have been different.

Admittedly, it was tough stepping down from vocals in season 1, but we had two vocalists and no bassist. If Nik or Paula switched to bass, we would only have one guitarist, and I did not like that-felt unbalanced. I prefer when bands have two guitarists, and I was not gonna have us NOT have a bassist, so I took one for the team. I definitely missed my moment to show the world what I can do with my voice, but it is okay! I still go to meet all these amazing people and have fantastic experiences. If I could go back, I would not change a thing. I am sure I will have other moments to shine.

I cannot speak for the rest of Graystone, but I ALWAYS apply myself and give it my all. I wanted the win so bad. I did not hangout with anyone after hours. I spent the majority of my time at Musician Mansion practicing bass. Unfortunately, being in a band is a team game, and you are only as strong as your weakest members.
