That showopener was Floors "baptism of fire" to the big European nightwish fanbase, there were some shows on the continent before Wacken but only for a 3 to 5k audiance. She was superb. She not only took the spectators in the palm of her hand from this first Song on, she closed her hand and she never opened it untill after the end the show closer " Last ride of the day"

Floor was a well-known figure in the symphonic metal world long before she joined Nightwish. Her first band, After Forever, was popular with Nightwish fans and had toured Europe opening for Nightwish. When Tarja was dismissed, Floor was one of the names that kept coming up amongst Nightwish fans as someone they hoped would replace her. It obviously didn’t happen then, as After Forever was still active, but when it did finally happen, there was a virtual cheer raised online. Her brilliance was a known quantity and enthusiastically anticipated, as evidenced by the huge cheer she got when she stepped out onto the stage, before she’d even sung a note.

They loved her right back and have NEVER left her. Floor's down-to-Earth genuine humility and soft-spoken humor, plus her 4-octave vocal range and powerhouse voice have endeared her to Nightwish fans. You can see how they feel about her from the beginning of this once-in-a-lifetime concert to the end.

Just saying, if you want to know how good this concert _really_ is, watch Tuomas' facial expressions (he's the keyboardist and composer for Nightwish). He smiles throughout the concert, with an expression on his face that has always made me think that his thought is, "This is always how I thought this sounded in my head!" Plus, the expressions of Floor and Jukka are so entertaining to watch -- because they both are so expressive in how they play/sing.

Marko Hietala (Nightwish Bass player 2001 - 2021) original first band (he started as 18 years old) was “Tarot” and he is the Lead Singer & Bass player of the band. Marko has all the time been playing with them as a side Project for Nightwish. I think Marko sings here best with awesome voice technique showing Nightwish actually has/had for 20 years two Lead Singer capable great voices having singers "Tarot - Tides (Live) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYmcnX-GbMp7jZI ". From Nightwish songs the best example would be “Nightwish - The Islander (Live At Tampere Finland 2015) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKCbn5aBlJqesMU ). Troy will show up at this concert. He joined the band as a permanent member the same time Floor did, which was in 2013. But he has been recording/playing with Nightwish since Dark Passion Play (2007). He plays pipes, whistles, and many other instruments. He also sings. And he's been featured a lot more in performances over the years.

Marco sings in alot of the songs in this gig. To hear him pretty much by himself, listen to the islander from Tampere. 82,000 people at wacken. She sings Amaranthe at this concert. She really has the people in her palm. Floor does it all, growling to full opera.

some of the absolutely beautiful rhythmic parts sounds damn good masterpiece this band is in a class by themselves with that level of creativity and elaborate stage and lights they are a brand and no one else makes this level of Finnish heavy metal with sounds, colors and rhythm sections of a symphony and with Toumas Holopainen at keyboardist/pianist might better word because he probably could play the pipe organ you never know and with that cool top hat he sports kinda often well he isn't called the Finnish heavy metal Mozart for nothing

And that is how you open a show. Most of the 82k crowd in Germany had not heard Floor singing with Nightwish as she had only been ion the band about 10 months, and most of that time was on tour in North and South America. You got the band names correct. Troy is a British multi instrumentalist that you haven't seen yet. Other members not at this show: Tarja Turunen- original lead singer (most operatic), Anette Olzon- 2nd lead singer (pop/rock style), Floor replaced her mid tour 2012, Sami Vanska - 1st bassist, Kai Hahto -current drummer, Jukka Koskinen- current touring bassist. This song was also the opener for the 2005 concert (End of an Era) in Helsinki, Tarja's last show. Since you are doing the Wacken show in order, the second song is Wish I had An Angel. You will get to hear Marko sing in that song. You won't see Troy until song #7

Nightwish , Ladies and Gentlemen !!! They have opened the Valhalla gates , and now the Valkyrie Goddess walks among us 🤘🤩🤘!!! This is one of three great openings from them ("Dark Chest Of Wonders", "Shudder Before The Beautiful" and now "Music" intro followed by "Noise" ). This was Floor’s coming out party at Wacken with Nightwish. At this point Floor had been with Nightwish for 10 months. Most fans had not seen her yet with Nihgtwish. And Wacken was the biggest concert for Nightwish, they were the headliner, the last performer right after Alice Cooper. Nightwish ended the concert around midnight. I'm sure the word was out about Floor being perfect for Nightwish. There were/are lots of fan recorded videos on YT from the early Nightwish with Floor concerts starting from the beginning of October 2012 when Floor joined Nightwish. Needless to say, she won them over immediately, capturing their souls from the getgo and not letting go for 15 songs. The whole show is fantastic. And… there’s also so much more to discover from the band beyond that. AND New Subscriber here for that !!!! Nightwish Shadow Unit from Estonia 🤘😎🤘.

You nailed all the names. You will hear Marko on the next song. Troy was a guest musician on this show. However, he is now a full time member. troy plays many old world traditional instruments, from uilleann pipes, whistles, bouzouki, as well as acoustic and electric guitars. I love how Jukka plays drums. He sits so low and constantly sways from side to side. It gives a unique swing feel to his playing. Wacken Open Air 2013 is legendary for Nightwish. If you're going through the whole gig (an excellent idea, btw), you'll get Marko singing in the next song. Troy comes in about the half-way point of the concert - at that particular time, he'd only been used as a guest artist on the songs they were performing, although unbeknownst to the fans, both he and Floor had been invited to become permanent members of the band. The songs written going forward had their performances in mind.

Stratele. Facts to you know about what changed in and since that concert: Floor Jansen (ex After Forever and Revamp) joins the band in lately 2012. Jukka Nevalainen the drummer left the drummer kit to became the band manager in 2014. He was replaced by Kai Hahto (also Wintersun's drummer). Marco Hietala (ex Tarot ) the bassit and singer letft the band in 2021, he was replaced by Jukka Koskinen (also Wintersun's bassist).

Jukka is always leaning forward when he plays drums. That posture combined with his stage energy gives you that sensation (like he's riding a motorbike). Others feel he is about to jump over his kit and come after them... :-) I really miss him...

Marko left NW early last year out of frustration with the music industry. However, he has not officially been replaced (NW has no permanent bass player according to their website) so who knows...

Along for your journey! Just trivia...the Vikings were never in Finland, but I know Marko's strong.beard game makes him look the part...badass! IRL, he is a kindhearted, gentle soul. And his vocal prowess is super-sized! Take note of a must-hear song that isnt on Gabriel's list (I don't think), a Pink Floyd tribute with High Hopes, live, End Of An Era 2005. Regarding Floor's height, in a Kerrang interview she stated "“I am just over six-feet tall, and while I am not a giant I don’t really fit into regular clothing. For the stage I need to have entire outfits made specifically for me so I can be sure that everything is… shall we say… sitting in the right place. It’s expensive - but very important.” She is often seen in high-heeled footwear which, of course, makes her appear even taller.

A little trivia Tidbit: Jukka (The Pirate) drummer, had to stop drumming with the band before the next album, but his friend Kai has carried on for him. He is still very active with Nightwish management, and is currently CEO of 2 Nightwish businesses (Scene Nation OY and Oily Empire OY) as confirmed by Tuomas, and D&B listings. Troy is amazing, and you will see him appear for a few songs in this concert adding his magic with some of his traditional Celtic instruments.

Absolutely got to love this show, she was at the top of her vocal game and was giving her absolutely all in every song (it was by far their biggest show to date at that time). This whole Wacken 2013 is so amazing However, there is a slightly sad note to it as well, they never did quite reach the same level playing live after that with these particular songs. Not to mean that they still aren't most likely the best live band in the World, just saying that if you missed Wacken 2013 (Like I did by foolishly not going due to living in Japan) your only chance to see that level of Nightwish is to watch this show. Thank GoT they made an official BluRay video of it, and that is why the sound mixing and editing is so amazing on these. I hope Nightwish brings in another harsh vocal singer, or Tuomas learns and starts singing again, since they are atm. missing a very vital part of their vocals for the older songs with Marko missing. They only (temporarily) replaced the bass part, and while the virtuoso Troy can cover for the guitar parts and the gentler vocals, he just can't (at least didn't last time) fill the missing vocals from Marko. It REALLY took so much away from the overall sound of the band, people don't even realize how much vocal magic Marko was doing harmonizing with Floor and bringing in explosive contrast with intentional opposite direction vocals to Floors to highlight her voice at key moments. That vocal trick Marko and Floor play at Romanticide's end is one of those. It is actually Marko doing most of the magic for that crazy sound effect

To get a sense of Floor's Height, you should watch "Sancta Terra" where she performs with Simone Simons with Epica (another fantastic band, by the way). Definately should react to that one at some point. And if you want more Epica, "Consign to Oblivion" is pretty epic.

I love a channel where the reactor isn't placating and regurgitating but actually discussing and understanding. That is when at least I get to experience the music again and new perspectives of it. Keep up the good work. This wil surely lead you to Ayreon, which will pop you head clean off if you like NW. Excellent choise to do the setlist from scratch - you won't regret it! *** And when you are all hyped up at the end - consider that this was Floor doing old songs not written for her incredible voice.... I think for your next reaction, to get a good idea of Marko's vocal capability, you should check out Nightwish's rendition of Pink Floyd's High Hopes (Live at End of an Era). That will knock you on your ass!! He's the sole vocalist on that one.... it's an absolute monster of a track! Much darker than the original, and Marko is stellar!!!

Very good on the names, and yes going chronologically is a great plan. This whole concert was perfect. Floor had been with the band 10 months and was somewhat being introduced to the European fans (82,000 in attendance). Floor and Troy which you will see later, are not officially band members yet. They become official band members a few months down the road. Troy is a multi-instrumentalist he plays all sorts of pipes, uilleann pipes, bouzouki, electric guitar, as well as backing vocals/vocals. Keep rocking liked and subbed for your Nightwish journey.

What a show opener! And the first time almost all of this crowd will have seen Floor. The "massive crowd" is 82,000 Yes you haven't seen Troy's on this track. The musical magician who plays anything that can't run away from him. I prefer to call Tuomas the Metal Mahler as he has far more depth of emotion than Mozart, to me. Mahler said "my music contains the world" and I find that true of Tuomas. You are right, she acts the song with her whole body. Floor is 6' (actually 183cm). Emppu is 5' 3"

@@StrateleStudios It's true, it was the first gig in Middle-Europe with Floor. She joined in 2012 during the US Tour. After that they toured South America an then the UK. I was in that crowd and it was almost like every guy instantly fell in love with her and every girl just wanted to be like her. I remember my jaw hurting from standing wide open most of the time. 3:21 look at the girls eyes, that's how most of the people felt

The whole Wacken 2013 show of Nightwish is amazing. I had to buy the blu-ray. You should just react to all the songs of the concert. Wembley and Buenos Aires are also amazing. Poet and the pendulum and Yours is an empty hope are the gems I think from Wembley. Devil and the deep dark ocean from Buenos Aires. There is so much solo stuff from Floor to be found on KZbin and also from her other bands Revamp and After Forever. A fun one to watch is a song from After Forever she performed with RLSQ for just a few people. She sings without a mic and still overpowers the instruments. 😊
