Great reaction, Jeff! And EXCELLENT analysis as usual. The ostinato that forms the backbone of this song is soooo catchy. It became an earworm on the first listen! Your boy Bob Reynolds turns in another smoking hot sax performance, and you are right about Justin Stanton's keyboard solo. Those guys killed it once again! And the horn arrangement by Maz? Man, that call and response turned into a mini-section duel between Reynolds/Jennings and Bullock/Maher at the end of the song! Talk about classic bebop! 👌 Empire Central really IS a fantastic collection; there is something there for everyone, with genre bending samples of multiple styles of jazz fusion music from blues to hard rock, soul, FUNK, experimental, and a couple of Texas Blues jams that would make Stevie Ray proud! Excellent performances by the usual suspects abound, but Bobby Sparks modified Clavinet solos with tremolo and distortion, Zach Brocks processed violin, Shuan Martin mastering the Talkbox, the late Bernard Wrights masterful minimalistic synth solo, and someone killing a trumpet solo on Coney Bear, not to mention JT Thomas and Larnell Lewis on drums.... this is an extraordinary collection of songs that just get better and better with each listen. Thanks again for your expert analysis Jeff; it's ALWAYS a pleasure watching you work and educate us!

I enjoy your Snarky Puppy reaction videos but please, can anybody explain why so many American musicians refer to tunes as songs? It's like calling a hat a shoe. Songs are sung, the noun from the verb - no vocals here.
