as a brazilian musician i'm so glad to see this. I have seen a few gringos trying to play brazilian music, and let me tell you, is very hard to get the vibe right like this guys do (also is an original composition witch is even harder). This genre is called Baião, originated form the semi-arid northeastern region.

Chris Bullock is a VERY talented multi instrmentalist. Flute, tenor sax or bass clarinet; he is equally good on each and can blow. The second trumpet player was Jay Jennings who has had a couple or really good solos in the past including that emotional burner on one of your favorite Snarky Puppy songs "Sing to the Moon". ALL of these guys (and gals) can REALLY play. I really, REALLY enjoy listening to the because they play music for musicians. Thanks for the video!

If I remember correctly from one of the concerts I went to, Michael said the title and song were a tribute to his niece (I think his brother is married to a Brazilian). Literal translation of the title is "Uncle Monkey" 🐒😂

Just makes one so joyful🎶🎵😃🤗. The little train happily on its journey through the landscape exploring ….🚂💨🌈💚🌱😄☺️. A solid ground/drive with wonderful solos to be explored and enjoyed as the journey progresses …. ahh🤗. The entire rhythm section is just phffphew good!🤪😅🔥And those crazy congas and beasty bongos🔥😅👍🏼. The horn section is just (as always) together and individually grrreat!🔥😃 4:31 beautiful and unexpected “view” as the rails lead you through the jungle, reaching higher grounds in the mountains and now out in the open to explore a completely new view with skys opening above you again🚂🙏🏼🤗…… and then new adventures begin💚🤗🌀😃. (And yeah, you better keep an ear+eye on any clues here towards the ending👀👂🏼!👍🏼🤣). Feels like taking a waterfall shower of treassures pouring down over you🌈😄🤗. Thank you so much for the joyful and diverse ride and journey yet again with wonderful Snarky Puppy, Jeff🙏🏼🌈🤩🎉🎊😃💚🌱🤗.

Hey this is baião, is a Brazilian rhythm too🤩, amazing!!! it's a rhythm from the Brazilian northeast, from the same place where frevo was born. Cory Henry fell in love with it too, and for me it's beautiful to know that good Brazilian music is going to the ends of the world. 👏👏👏👏 I don't know if you know but one of the Brazilian rhythms was inspired by English culture, it's forró, this word comes from "for all"...which was Brazilianized with that name because of the pronunciation, Which is also a rhythm from the Brazilian northeast, all come from the same musical source

If you haven’t yet, you should checkout the album SYLVA. SP with the Metropole Orkest. A suite of music written by Michael League and arranged by Michael with Jules Buckley. The most popular piece is The Curtain, but in its entirety it is even better.

@@StrateleStudios Thanks so much for sharing this. Michael League is a genius. He wrote it including all of the individual parts of the orchestra along with doing most of the arranging. Bill Laurence on piano is stunning. I had the same reaction that you did. You can see the music flowing through him. Just stunning. You might want to do Ready Wednesday written by Laurence. The Clearing on the SYLVA album kind of brings the suite all together at the end. Thanks again!
