Ranbu No Melody IS a good song. It's a good song to listen everyone once in awhile, so get the rating he gave it. BUT, once you watch the anime AND watch the opening, it starts to hit different as the journey falls into reverse at the end of the opening. So obviously, objectively, as a musician - Ranbu is an okay song. As a Bleach watcher - it is fire.

I'm absolutely blinded by nostalgia when it comes to Bleach. In particular, I remember jamming out to D-technolife, Rolling Star, Shojo S, and Ranbu No Melody when I was like 13. Love hearing what other people think of these op's!

I actually watched Bleach because I was a fan of Scandal. Shojo S slaps so good. I like Harukaze a lot too. If no one else answered, Scandal has three vocalists, two leads (Haruna and Tomomi, playing rythm guitar and bass respectively) and the lead guitarist, Mami, does backups and has done lead on a couple of tracks. Rina, the rock solid drummer of the band, sometimes does vocals as well.

I see what you mean about these. I, like manny fans, would easily rank songs Change and Ranbu No Melody higher. But this is through the lens of a fan. The emotion being represented in these songs mean nothing to someone who doesn't know what a song represents. The final song, Harukaze, was very melancholic because it signalled the end of the show that would soon be cancelled. Ranbu No Melody was the climax of the show and knowing what happened with all the characters and why that song was placed where it was really develops an appreciation for it. These songs are not just songs. They are anime intros. They are paired with a group of episodes because they are supposed to ring the same tone as the episodes. But you're analyzing them not by this metric, but by your own perception as a musician who knows little of bleach. This video has more dislikes than your others but I think it is because the viewers are not trying to see your point of view.

Nah you're right, an anime opening is a complete package with music and visuals together. I haven't seen the show though so I have no context for the visuals. Also the point of this series is to focus on the quality of the music even if that isn't necessarily the whole package. At the end of the day though the ratings aren't all that serious, it's no biggie if people disagree!

If you like music bleach has some fire openings and endings but it’s osts are on another level. They are made by Shiro Sagisu who I consider one of the best musicians ever. Also just in case: Bleach is actually a really good series. The anime censors a lot, is slow and changes a lot of things in the series though. The manga is incredibly well written. The ost is just so fucking good though that it makes watching the anime worth it even though it’s a poor adaptation. I can’t recommend enough listening to some of Shiro Sagisu’s evangelion, beserk and Bleach osts. I’m not even a music person but I love them so so much.

The author Tite Kubo had often gotten angry and how badly they changed things saying it made him sick and that the staff don’t even understand the characters. Early on they completely changed a few characters relationships which because of that still has people spreading misinformation because well... it’s correct in the anime even if it’s as far from the truth in the manga. Bleach has the worst adaptation of the big three and probably the worst adaption that doesn’t go extremely far off from the manga. Luckily though Kubo is working closely on the anime’s return so the TYBW will probably actually be better than the manga with added canon content

@@AceBountyHunterRex one major example is Orihime and Ichigos entire relationship. In the anime they barely know each other, Orihime is scared of him and Ichigo is cold to her. This was a major issue until soul society, where every scene Orihime has in the anime is either completely different or heavily changed from how it was in the manga. Even in the acidwire fight which was centered around Orihime they changed so much of her character that manga orihime and anime Orihime are practically entire different characters for that entire first arc. Though most of the major changes were in that first arc making it pretty much terrible to the point that the original memories in the rain OVA that came out before the anime is a better adaptation of it. Later on in the series most of the changes besides for filler is just really out of character dialogue, heavy censorship (like really heavy, it was bad early on and just kept getting worse throughout the series) and either adding or removing small scenes, on its own the anime is all right but it’s just a really bad adaptation of Bleach, it’s one of the few series that I genuinely think the manga is just better than in every way, like even sort of ehh adaptations like most early 2000’s anime seem great in comparison to Bleach’s

The ones that feel out of place are often filler arcs, when the whole story derails because the manga isn’t ahead enough. Blue by Vivid was a damn good opening for a boring ass filler. Joke’s on you, before calling it Bleach, Kubo wanted to call the manga “Black” or “White”. Thank the lord he didn’t because that would have been the most unimaginative names ever. And you mention that Ichigo has drip, back in the day a mayor definer from the other shonen manga was the spreads Kubo would draw where he would draw the cast in intricate detail and color, wearing very normal but stylish clothes and that carried over into the anime. He wanted to really sell the fact that they were teenagers through style, the same way Yu Yu Hakusho did before Bleach

I think that the girls at his HS all kind of low key have a crush on him except for the lesbian, but all other characters are adult women, sometimes hundreds or thousands of years old, so they don't really see him that way. One of his lil sisters has a weird crush on him but never acts on it. His childhood friend has a big crush on him BUT since she is best friends with the girl that ends ups being Ichigo's wife, she lets her have Ichigo and acts as if she is not interested. There is Nelliel, she likes Ichigo and I'm pretty sure if Ichigo proposed to her she wouldn't say no, but she has no crush on him. Its just that she likes him as a person and is the kind of person to accept a proposal of any person she likes.

The Grimjow and Zangetsu ones are even good ships, I'm straight and male but I have read some non explicit fanfictions of those two ships and are pretty good, but the zangetsu ships can get a bit weird since Zangetsu is essentially just shipping Ichigo with Ichigo since Zangetsu personality is just a subset of Ichigo's personality and Zangetsu has access to all of Ichigo's memories.

As someone who watched Bleach back in the day and remembers some of these with nostalgia and fondness... I had completely forgotten about Chu-Bura (the one that starts with the beach) and it says absolutely nothing to me. I do remember the arc though. It was filler, and it was bad.

I have a question about the background song you use when you are giving commentary: is it the instrumentals to Hot Dad Summer from Camp Camp? Or maybe that song sampled something else and that's what you used. It just felt so familiar and that's what I placed it as.
