Ben Bram was actually around - but he worked for the show. Scott met him in college and Ben helped him put the group together... he's the one that approached Avi for them and he split the cost of Kevin's plane ticket with Scott to get him out there for it (Kevin agreed when they asked because he thought it sounded like fun and wasn't going to cost him anything, not because he thought it was his future) Mitch's dad DID say, though, that while the show offered all the groups help with arrangements and choreographers, PTX was the only group that did their own arranging and choreo, anyway.

@@therealmrjshow LOL Thanks! Most people say I'm condescending, too 😏PTX was my rabbit hole (akin to your Jewish tangent) 2020ish? I seriously watched basically every interview I could find and pretty much every other video nonstop for months. Then last year I put together the spreadsheet with as much info as I could dump into it while still being organized. I have this compulsive need to make sure people have correct information... but I turn off comment notifications so I can remain oblivious to the people who get offended by that 😅 I only get notified if the OP (you) "like" my comment, then I'll check to see if anything was said 👍🏻

I watched the show live when it aired and remember thinking at the time, there’s no way 5 people are going to do this song justice, and I was so, so very wrong. VKTRS was good but this one blew my socks off. Kevin’s gunshot noise is one of the coolest effects ever. And Avi…sheeesh. This ep sat on my TiVo until it died. (RIP my TiVo)

It's hard to imagine, the Trio learning so quickly to trust Avi and Kevin to lead the beat. Hard to imagine opera and classically trained Avi and cello-playing medical student Kevin figuring out how to sound like a big engine revving and back-firing. How does that happen, and sound so tight and strong. This is my favorite from the series, but there a quite a few other great ones left. Looking forward to your reactions to the rest of the series.

Truth is, they did have the 6th member. Ben Bram was a producer for the show, knew all of them except Kevin and was instrumental on putting the group together.

Just past the half way point of the competition and all the other groups have pretty much thrown in the towel. I love seeing the confidence level grow in these kids, but they still remain humble, hard working, eager to learn and unafraid to give it everything they got.

Glad you pointed out that skipping over any of the tapes, Mr J doesn't know what content he is missing. I think he also misses out on getting to know what their competitors were like. I think, in my case anyway, there is a greater appreciation of PTX's talent. Even at this early stage of their career.

I know that this was from last week, but I missed it then. I think reactors that skip the Sing-Off performances or don't do them until much later in their PTX journey, are really missing out on a lot. Many of us, of course, have been fans since their first performance on the show in 2011, and there really is no way to replicate the experience of watching them grow into who they are today over the past eleven years. But taking the time to watch and appreciate these performances--and reading the backstories provided by your commeters--is the next best thing. It gives an added layer to your critiques of newer songs and an appreciation for the incredible talent they all demonstrated from the start. So, thanks!
