Hi Wave... Gacharik Spin's original lead singer/front woman was Ashitomi Takae, or stage name of Armmy (AH Me), passed away in 2015, the reason for her passing is hard to find, but I believe it was something to do with either eating or breathing, still her passing was a great loss, both to the band and the music world as a whole. Luckily, we are able to watch and hear her perform on KZbin. (Just look for a blond front woman in the Gacharic Spin searches.)Hana's last name is Soto.

Hana is a monster, she took over lead vocals in Gacharic Spin after Armmy, the original singer left. But she's not only a drummer, she also plays guitar and several other instruments. And household appliances (here she's doing a cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit on these: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpO7nnRtpdt7mLc). The first time I saw her playing guitar was, when Tomo-Zo (guitar) was sick for a gig and they got support from Tamu Murata on drums and Hana took over guitar. In their most recent line up she gave up drums for the most part and is now the second guitarist. And yes, they are doing the vocal harmonies live as well, since apart from Koga all of them can sing and also do lead vocals, depending on the song. So, in Doll$box we have four singers. Or five, since Fuki counts at least as two singers 😁In Gacharic Spin as well since their new stage performer Angelina 1/3 also sings. Gacharic Spin is even more insane, since they split up vocals between the members, in Doll$boxx Fuki is the main vocalist and the rest do background. In Gacharic Spin there's always someone else doing lead vocals. They even switch during songs a lot. I sure hope this triggers a new reaction spree for Gacharic Spin, Unlucky Morpheus and Doll$box, since they deserve a lot more attention.

It's a rabbit hole you can't escape once you get in. They're everything I've ever wanted TBH, I always felt heavy music was an unapproachable boy club, and when I'd be jamming it, I'd think "I wonder what the ladies would do if they were in our shoes?" Now we know, and it fucking rules. Better than I ever hoped.

All girl band - DOLL$BOXX - a side project of Gacharic Spin (four musicians) with singer Fuki (the blond). They released albums DOLLS APARTMENT (2012) and High Spec (2017). Dolls Apartment is a loose concept album about starting a band and trying to get successful. Monopoly (4th song) is sort of about the singer (Fuki) getting famous and getting a big ego and leaving the others behind. The third song is called "Take my chance" - this is a put-on of what it takes for a new group to make it, playing at small clubs, hoping to attraction attention. It's kind of difficult to put this band into a single category as they play all types of rock. The singer in this project, Fuki, is considered one of the best female rock/metal vocalist around and has worked/working in a lot of different projects. Her longest band is called Unlucky Morpheus and is more metal. Gacharic Spin is a group that is best described as loosely contained chaos on stage and all the musicians are some of the best in Japan. Gacharic Spin is one of my favorite bands. The band was formed in 2009 by bassist F Chopper Koga after leaving her first band, Pink Panda. Koga was looking for musicians for a new band and asked her friend from HS the drummer Hana first. At this time, Hana was playing bass in another band and switched to drums (she is a multi-instrumentalist). Together they found guitarist Eita and singer Armmy. After a few concerts on their first tour, Eita left the band and they needed to find another guitarist so the recruited Tomo-Zo, who was the guitarist from the band Eu Phoria, that also included the keyboardist Oreo, had just split up so Tomo-Zo could start at Gacharic Spin. Oreo supported the band with keyboard at concerts in 2010 and 2011 until becoming a full member. Singer Armmy left the band due to health issues (she later passed away). They have also had a number of support members, mainly for dancing around, sometimes playing instrument. In 2019 they switched up the lineup and Hana switched from drums to rhythm guitar, added drummer Yuri and new dance/vocalist Angelina 1/3 (pink) hair and she was 17 at the time, she's now 19).

Doll$Boxx is a side project collaboration between Gacharic Spin and Fuki. GS started in 2009, with a lead singer called Armmy (Takae Ashitomi). They did a sort of highly technical punk-pop, but crossed genres a lot. They started to have some friction within the band, and then in early 2012 Armmy left for health reasons. She died in 2015; their work with her is very much worth seeing-here is an early one: “Setsunaku” kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJfdeqdoZcSrjsk The girls were all just out of high school, and you can see they were already very technical. When Armmy left, GS had tours lined up in both Japan and abroad for 2012, and needed a lead singer. For the Japan tour various singers (including Fuki) filled in for different shows, but they couldn’t find someone good enough who could also commit to the band full time For their overseas tour Hana (who was doing drums and vocals and was effectively the co-leader of the band) took the lead vocals on herself. She also happens to play several other instruments. GS had had a great chemistry with Fuki when she filled in for them, so while they were figuring out what to do with GS they contacted Fuki about doing a more metal project. This became Doll$Boxx. They wrote and recorded their first album at the end of 2012, then picked up GS again full time in 2013. They are still active, but occasionally pick up the Doll$Boxx collaboration again when they and Fuki have time in their schedules. Gacharic Spin have added more personnel (a drummer, allowing Hana to focus on guitar and vocals, and dancers who also sing). It's impossible to define them by genre. You'll find everything in their catalogue from metal and punk to electro, dance, pop and ballads. Most of their recent work merges multiple genres. Core personnel (these are also the members of Doll$Boxx along with Fuki): Hana (Hana Sano): vocals, drums, guitar, keytar, other instruments Tomo-Zo (Tomoko Midorikawa): lead guitar F-Chopper Koga (Michiko Koga): bass Oreo Reona (Reona Suzuki): keyboards, vocals Several other performers have rotated in and out of GS. Currently they list Yuri as their drummer and Angelina doing dance and vocals.

Oddly enough when he was looking for koga’s glow in the dark bass solo, featuring spinning bass, google displayed a thumbnail I’m familiar with. It’s koga’s ‘modeling’ video from when she was a teen. The title is just her real name. If you want to see koga in a skimpy Biniki riding an off road vehicle on the beach this the video for you. She also shows off her basketball skills.. This was the briskcrew company who were filming and photography all these young ladies that decided they wanted to form a band as a bit of a or stunt for meet and greets. They had a hood guitarist , drummer, an an enthusiastic singer so they talked koga into learning the bass. This was when she was going to high-school with Hana who was becoming an expert at all of the rock instruments in order to fit in and not be bored. The briskcrew band was named pinkpanda and koga spent seven years of bass practice til she quit the band and got together with Hana to create gacharic(ga.cha.ric) spin. The rest as they say is history…

The singer "Arrmy"( Ashitomi Takae), who left in 2012 for health reasons, formed a band TAKAEITA in 2013 with the former Gacharic Spin guitarist Eita. Takae later died in 2015 from an undisclosed illness. Very sad. Takaeita still has KZbin videos up ("EITA hime" is the KZbin channel).

Funny you should mention Hana's screaming/singing while playing the drums, since the other day I saw a vocal coach talk about that. She was reacting to a live performance of Peter Gabriel doing In the Air Tonight, and at one point he's singing and playing drums at the same time. Something she pointed out, which seems obvious when I think about it, is that playing drums jostles you quite a lot, so it's really difficult to keep your pitch consistent while singing. (Peter, of course, did this flawlessly). So when you mentioned Hana doing her vocals to the rhythm of her playing, I was reminded of that. It may be why she performed it like that, or part of the reason why, anyway. Anyway, what a fun band! That five part harmony was unexpected but really awesome, and the lead singer has a very distinctive voice. Kinda reminds me of Reol*, who is a famous vocaloid producer from the earlier days. She has her own (very successful) singing career now. She is one heck of a songwriter and performer, maybe I'll request one of her songs one day. *As opposed to REOL, which was a trio composed of her, another vocaloid producer named Giga (gee-gah), and artist/animator Okiku. I'll have to tell you their story one day, it's fascinating.

Best description of this band with Fuki is awesome chaos that is just a blessing for your ears. Fuki is sensational but the rest of this band are the usual insanely talented Japanese women. We have to start music education back up here in the States as the Japanese have seriously put us to shame. A lot of these great musicians formed bands in their early teens and are now battle tested and mature musicians. Here the Gacharic Spin craziness in all it glory, forget smacking your face these ladies body slam you while having a blast!!!

Yeah... at this time was Gacharic Spin on a little hiatus due to lack of lead. Armmy who was the original and quite popular became unreliable. Not showing up etc. Believe she passed away in 2015 because of health. But GS wasn't dead, but kept on with Hana and Oreo Reona sharing on the main vocals. While FCK and TZ did their little share of backing. Now they got a new singer. Angelina 1/3(?) who seems promising.

Wait so is doll$boxx sort of a kawaii supergroup? That makes a lot of sense if so, all these ladies rock so hard, it makes sense they'd double down on it. Misa and the other bassists in this genre are like all timers. Also a rock multi-instrumentalist, and these chicks blow my mind. Hanna is insane for doing these vocals while playing drums, and that's my "main" instrument.

@@Darth.Fluffy First time I heard about Band Maid was late 2017. At that time there was only Thrill and some some small festival footage. Right off I noticed all the balding westerners up front. Didn't really become a fan until spring 2019 when those Zepp concert songs were making the rounds. Those and Vladimir Chupin's concert clips. Gacheric Spin didn't really click for me until last year I saw a good copy of their November 2010 1st Anniversary LIVE concert with the original lineup.
