This song was the one in MLP that hit me the hardest. Like he said, we can all relate to not knowing what our purpose is, but for me it was more than that. I struggle with a lot of mental diseases from inheritance. And when I heard this song, it really reassured me that I would find my place one day. Especially Cadence's line "You're gifted and you are strong." This song is very special to me because of that reason.

Britt Mckillip's second line for Cadance (the pink pony) to me is the best part of this song. It just sounds so majestic and cold chill inducing. That and the harmony with all three Princesses makes this one of my favorites and still put on repeat for.. And yeah the music is one of MLP's biggest strengths and draw-ins for this Series. I've two suggestions from MLP. First is 'You're in my head like a catchy song', a popular choice honestly, it's a pretty sappy love song, especially paired with the visuals, and the instrumental accompaniment is an acoustic guitar. Still good though. Second is 'In Our Town'. The instrumental accompaniment here is very military-inspired, but the primary reason I'm recommending it is to provide a taste of what this series can get into when it forgets it's a kids show for a while, without breaking the trend of recommending songs in the process. It's...pretty messed up if you really catch what's going on with the visuals and lyrics.

Some family context here: Celestia, the white pony, is the prime ruler of the pony kingdom Equestria, the dark blue pony, Luna, is her younger sister. The pink pony Cadence is an adopted niece of Celestia and Luna. Twilight, the purple pony, is Celestia's apprentice, Celestia is her mentor. Cadence is married to Twilight's older brother, making them sisters-in-law. They are all princesses.

Something, that is subtle, is after Celestia says "Your time will come". The musical bits of the song continues. And still has that blissful feel to it. And it hits its peak when when looking at the moon for the final time. Then it goes down maintaining that blissful sound, until it starts to go dissonant and eerie as it introduces the new villain. To me it was subtle, and when i heard i thought that it was a genius way to musically switch the scenes from hopeful to dread.

I just absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE that they gave all the lines that Princess Luna can relate to, to her. For e.g Twilight tells specifically to Luna, " I want to do all that I can " cuz that's exactly what Luna's been trying to do!!! Even though she knows she cant outshine Celestia, she still tried to find things that only SHE can do to serve her people (guarding and protecting the dream realm) Not to mention the lines " Patience is never easy, I understand wanting more" " I know how hard it is to wait, to spread your wings and soar" " We understand you wanting more" " A chance to shine, a chance to soar"

It really took the team some time to grow into the show and realize what they could do with these characters, and Daniel Ingram is no exception. He's always done great work, but like everyone working on the show, he needed time to get a feel for what these characters were about, and by this point in the show (season 4 finale) he has so much confidence in how to weaponize the roles of each character to impose a mood.

You should check out "The Magic Inside." It is widely regarded as one of the best songs in the whole show. Lena Hall really gets to flex her vocal cords in that one. The song is so beautiful because her character is singing this from a place of unabashed self. She has found her way and who she is after being lost for so long. Daniel Inghram (the amazing composer that does all the songs for the show) really emphasizes this by not touching up her vocals at all, which greatly contrasts her song earlier in the episode, being a Gaga-esque pop song with heavy auto-tune. You really gotta give it a listen.

Loved seeing those harmonies blow your mind! One of my favorite aspects of this song is Luna telling Twilight she knows what it's like to want more and how hard it is to wait, because those aren't empty reassurances; we KNOW she truly understands from experience. When Luna felt unneeded and uncertain about her role as a princess, she didn't have the support Twilight does, and over time she grew bitter and was taken over by dark magic as you saw in Lullaby for a Princess and The Moon Rises. She and Celestia have come a long way since then, haven't they? No wonder the other princesses are so ready to rally around Twilight here; they've learned how important their support can be.

Man, back in the day two of my friends and I learned all the lyrics for this. We even assigned each-other parts based on our vocal ranges, and our harmonies were _air-tight._ I still know Celestia's part in the chorus.
