Excellent interview! Color MyWorld, brilliant piece of work. Simplicity and depth is hard to do so perfectly.

Loved Chicago since I bought my first Chicago album when I was fifteen in 1970 Chicago ll. Then a week later I got CTA. Saw them 3 times before the tragic loss of Terry Kath. Being a drummer, needless to say that Danny played a major part in my life as a musician.

Joe, what a great interview with James! So many bands were lucky! Chicago created their own luck! First they became the house band at the Whiskey A Go Go, met Jimi Hendrix, then became his opening act! They were a group with a unique sound, that continues to sound fresh, even today! they were true entrepreneurs, in the truest sense!💫

CTA has been the most significant influence in my love for music. Now 50 years later this Grandpa Drummer can play & post South California Purples and Byblos on You Tube. I'm no pro but man is it fun to play. I can't imagine the band packing it in anytime soon. Craig B.

Interesting that in his entire interview, the name Peter Cetera never was uttered once.

Pretty much if you are a former band member Chicago tries to pretend you don't exist. Terry Kath is the exception because of his tragic demise . Walt Parazaider is sometimes mentioned, but he retired and I believe still retains an ownership stake in the band,

@@formerdeputyassistant1775 My point is, why? He was the only band member not mentioned once.

Another very cool interview! As I was watching I was trying to remember who was "first" to reach the airwaves. CTA or BST. Now I know.

B,S&T was formed in 1967, first album out in early 1968. Kooper loved Chicago, but didn’t meet the band until late 1968/early1969. Nice interview, but that story is baloney.

And how do we know your story isn't baloney? Exactly what credit do you have here that I should believe you over Pankow?

With all due respect, Pancow gave a time and a well-known and plausible location (the Whisky) where Kooper personally met and spoke with the band. The story is likely true. Kooper had a keen eye for talent and was consistently searching for a “new sound”.

yes, Chicago moved to LA in June of '68, so this story has no truth to it

So he doesn’t remember some timelines. He says drugs were involved and it’s been 50 years
