Context for the tracks Rivers in the Desert - Plays during one of the late game boss fights. There is an instrumental version of the track during the first phase of the fight and the vocals come in during the second phase. Life Will Change - Plays while you get ready to fight the major bosses. The song is basically about how you are going to kick the bosses ass. Take Over - Plays when you ambush a basic enemy in the game. Last Surprise - Plays when you fight a basic enemy without ambushing them.

So the vocalist Lyn Inaizumi was actually singing in a small Jazz bar when the games composer Shoji Meguro came in with some of his colleagues while they were trying to work out who should do the vocals for their game. After hearing Lyn singing he must have thought (In Japanese) "This lady has got some PIPES!" Now she has become very popular and everybody knows she has some seriously good pipes. Also Lyn could not speak English so she had to be coached on how to pronounce each syllable. Don't know if Lyn learnt English later. Shoji Meguro is a legend by the way, he has made so many tracks for several Persona and other games. All of them amazing. I hope you guys check out P4 and P3 too.

He said that he did not hold auditions, and instead asked around to find “a female singer who can sing soul in an authentic way.” It seems that Lyn was selected because her demo tape fitted the image so well. Although they did not meet at a jazz club, she was clearly chosen because her voice is perfect for the setting." The thing about Persona 5 is it's turned based combat so you can just sit and jam to the soundtrack as long as you want. However, its sequel "Persona 5 Strikers" is a musou warriors style combat game where a bunch of things are happening at once with EXTREMELY fast-paced combat. The soundtrack for Strikers is absolutely NUTS. If you react to that OST, envision that intense rock soundtrack with absolute unabashed chaos happening at the same time. *THAT'S* a track that will be hard to play with. Great reaction, love seeing you guys get so into it. If you're gonna do another one of these, I recommend "Price," "A Woman," and/or "Whims of Fate," which are all level themes and groovy as fuck. Also from the remaster, "Ideal and the Real" is a chill bop, it's the character theme of your therapist/school counselor basically.

The amount of orchestral stuff in the soundtrack is amazing. The base game soundtrack, the one from the rerelease game, Royal, as well as another spin off game Strikers all have amazing music.

To answer your question, Rivers in the Desert plays during a boss fight against the guy who technically screwed your life over and it's the only time it plays
@mauroramondo58552 ай бұрын
Nah it plays on a lot of bosses actually, but that's the first and most impactful time

as someone who is OBSESSED with persona 5 you guys should DEFINITELY play it !!! i'd watch _every_ second of it. i recommend persona 5 royal since its basically the updated verson of persona 5
@Eyris_Tea Жыл бұрын
I highly recommend this game and that you all should play! I just finished/posted Royal finally and one of the best things is how much the music mirrors the plot and is so thematic. Beneath the Mask is so good, you should definitely listen to that at least. It is indeed a long game- my vanilla P5 play was 150 hours, and Royal was 180ish. But it's SO WORTH IT. Persona games and their music are always so good.

Lyn has the most soul i've ever heard out of a Japanese woman. I genuinely can't believe she's not black.
@nemesi5511 ай бұрын
That deep, rich vocal style Lyn has just isn’t that popular in Japan and it’s a shame! There are some truly talented Japanese female vocalists out there, Kaho Nakamura comes to mind, but that really cloyingly sweet AKB48-style cutesy pop voice dominates the scene.
@MLWJ199311 ай бұрын
Honestly, there's some insanely talented Japanese vocalists out there. DJ Okawari has some great featuring Japanese vocalists with very English sounding stage names (E.G. Emily Styler)

I just stumbled onto this video but P5 has probably the best OST I've ever heard (and I'm 49 fwiw). The genre of music showcased is called Acid Jazz for those not in the know. It was a style that began in the late 80s and came out of the UK. It's a mix of jazz, soul, funk, disco, hip hop and house.To this day, it is my favorite genre of music. Notable artists in the genre include: My personal favorite of all time The Brand New Heavies, Jamiroquai, Incognito, Count Basic, Corduroy and the Brooklyn Funk Essentials. People really don't make it much anymore but you do have some holdovers who still bring it who are newer like Tortured Soul. Neo-Soul is the modern evolution of Acid Jazz but that has less house and funk influences than AJ.

This is one of my favorite gaming OSTs. My other two favorite gaming OSTs are Hades and Fire Emblem Three Houses, maybe check them out sometime. They’re an entirely different feel from this and from each other. Nothing is as funky as P5R, what a banger of a game and OST.

It might be a bit out of your collective wheelhouse, but the LISA Games OST's are nothing to sneeze at with how strange, experimental, melancholoic, hype, and terrifying they can each be. War Season is probably my favorite track from the game, but He's my Dad really gets me.

I used to put keep on the cafe theme with the tv on whenever it was raining after playing through the game when it came out, and now I listen to the KZbin rain video of it when I work! The singer for the P5R OST is Lyn Inaizumi. Fun facts about Lyn, she doesn't speak English and had to learn enough English specifically for this album. Also, because she is a Mezzo Saprano (a much lower vocal range than many Japanese singers), she struggled to find success and jobs throughout her career. The scenario where Rivers in the Desert FIRST shows up (and the ONLY time it shows up) is during a boss fight. It is incredibly significant because the game is building to THIS MOMENT. At first, all you hear is the instrumental version of the song. Once the boss fight enters into the second phase, and the $h^t hits the fan, that's when you get the lyrical version. The Persona games are by far made by their usage of music. I personally listen to the OST on my playlist quite frequently. If you've never played the game, it is available PC, and I highly recommend playing Persona 5 Royale. Edit: Oh, and your reaction is the same as just about EVERYONE who reacts to the P5R OST. I thought I would add this little note. Good on you for checking it out.
