The history is that the two founders of zildjan back in turkey were making these cymbals and then there was a conflict so one half of the company left and made a new one called sabian, all the people that were part of sabian were lured in by the sabian and they all originally worked for zildjan. Fun Fact!

I sent my Sabian 16" AAX-Plosion crash cymbal (Brilliant) to be changed to a "Natural" finish to this factory in Maine. I can't wait to hear how it sounds in about 6-8 weeks UPDATE: Received my cymbal last month and it sounds amazing. Has a more dry echo hum that's consistent with what I play, plus I can't see my distinct finger prints as much as before. Traditional is the way. Next my 18" cymbal. Thanks, Sabian UPDATE: Had my 18" AAX-Plosion cymbal finished to "Natural" and I like the results!

Sabians are Canadian and this factory is in Meductic New Brunswick but I'm glad you got good results from whatever body shop in Maine refinished them for you.
@rodstewart744 жыл бұрын
@@litchar Yeah, they did a pretty good solid finish on both my cymbals and it was very cheap. It still shows the "CANADA" signature stamp on them, which I love knowing that's where they originated from. I think they are a joint team between boarders. Very communicative and trustworthy from my experience.
@RoughAndWretchedRAW4 жыл бұрын
Gotta say: I am impressed by how much of the process at Sabian is actually done by hand. I watched a video by Zildjian and most of their process is automated. Then again, it does back up the family fall out story that caused the founding of Sabian. One brother being the face who retained the original company and the other who was in the factory and founded Sabian. Automated produces a good quality but only hand crafting will produce unique and one of a kind results.
@rjsal2464 жыл бұрын
Rough And Wretched R.A.W. Very true, do you think they are still producing them the same way?
@RoughAndWretchedRAW4 жыл бұрын
@@rjsal246 No clue. All I can say is automation may produce quantity and repeatability but it does not produce quality and uniqueness. Then again, I just watched a video that said the pro or amateur status of a drummer can be determined solely by their drum set up. Vocalists are using autotune and backing tracks and folks can't seem to play without click tracks. So maybe quality. talent and individuality are no longer relevant.
@Customwinder14 жыл бұрын
The HH and HHX and artisan cymbals are among the lines still produced the old way. AA are automated anvil. And all of the cheaper cymbals are mass produced. And individuality and talent still count. Top 40 and the like is made for the masses. To make money. Go see a local band and support local music 👍
@rsilvers129 Жыл бұрын
they are virtually identical. Both use automatic hammer machines. Sabian just chose to show a hand hammered model being made. That is a very tiny percentage of what they sell.

all three of the world's top cymbal makers have AMAZING high end product lines that because of competition and demand and modern technology and techniques are better than ever--except the cheap low-end shitty sounding ZHT,PST,and lame B8+B8pro, even scimitar fucking suck and give the companies the reason to put such a high price on the really nice ones-like K,legacy,artisan,HH,masters,2002,602 and sound formulas you know the ones i mean, 600 dollars for a 22inch ride is too much,but young drummers never really get the chance to hear beautiful cymbals, or the feel-the shimmer and wobbly washy feel your stick and cymbal soft and gentle contact can make plenty of noise-or volume for any drummer, the cheap ones are brittle and sre highg pitched and crack easy, are stiff and hit really HARD might produce good crach but hit gently sound cheap and are cheap,but that cheapness is what makes them popular.spend good money and get a good cymbal you wont abuse it or beat violently antmore.

Hey Video Customer Service Guy...Using natural gas in not a zero emissions situation. Look it up. ...You also screwed up your explanation of metallurgy. Heating Steel to red hot and then quenching it in a liquid is "Tempering"....Heating metal to red hot and letting it air cool is annealing..Annealing softens the metal and allows you to work the metal. Tempering makes the metal hard.....I'm sure by now everybody has already Corrected You..I'm surprised they let these technical errors pass. Maybe your a relative. Anyway, I'm done

In the latter eighties Zildjan had cut costs to assure profit. Their cymbals were much crapier, no warranty, and less imaginative than now. tilt your cymbals toward you when your crashing on a cymbal try to hit the body of the cymbal instead of the edge because that's where they split also don't tighten them down tightly I don't have mine tightened at all no felt at the top just the wing nut sure you don't have to do that if you don't want too but try to loosen it up as much as possible because when you restrict a cymbal when you hit it ends up flexing way too much thus cracking or splitting

Robert Zildjian, son of Avedis Zildjian III, the head of the Avedis Zildjian Company. Family tradition had it that the head of the company would pass the company down to the oldest son (Armand). After Avedis Zildjian III died in 1979, Armand (who was President of Zildjian at the time) became Chairman of the Board. This eventually led to a family feud and a legal dispute between Robert and Armand that resulted in Robert leaving Zildjian to form the rival Sabian company.
