st3r Your bass playing being called bad by a black dude wearing dungarees and a hat, who visits guitar center with his hot, at least twenty years younger wife is probably the biggest compliment you can get. That guy surely knows the true meaning of groove! Words can’t even describe how disrespectful and arrogant your stupid little phrase is. You should get a pair of nice La Bella Flatwounds and test their strength, while dangling from your nearest bridge.

My best friend has a tradition in his family where they go in blindfolded to buy their instruments. They bring someone else in with them to hand them different instruments so they’re not influenced by the brand or the look or color and all they hear is the sound and all they feel is the instrument. I went in blindfolded with my friend and he handed me a ton of different basses. Some of them I played for a long time some of them I just noodled around on for a few seconds. When he handed me the bass that I ended up buying, I just played an open E one time and the words thats it fell out of my mouth. When I took the blindfold off I was holding an American P bass. It’s been about five years now and we’re still going strong

I like the split coil sound, but lately I've really wanted like the 51 style P bass. I don't play bass in my band, I play guitar, but my girlfriend (yes I'm dating the bass player lol) plays the bass in our band, and I honestly like bass more I'm just better than the rest of the band at guitar basically, anyway I think that would be like the perfect, punchy P sound that our lower end would love. All our tone has to be perfect.

@@clarencebeaks1315 He's knowledgable and a very competent musician. Knows his prog metal and music theory. However, he is insufferably close-minded about other music, which is fine. We all have our expertise and favorite type of music.The problem lies in his sincere belief that he is intellectually superior to people who like pop music (and basically any other music he doesn't like). He's the type to objectify music and says his opinions as universal truths that cannot be refuted, and the type to attach intellect to music taste. He calls himself a music snob when he doesn't have any understanding for music outside of metal, and has an overall disdain for pop music, even going so far as to make more videos trashing low-hanging fruit pop music instead of talking about music he likes. This is the same guy who got popular from reacting to Fine Bros videos. Reacting to Kids reacting to whatever pop music he hates. He's petty, immature, and has an annoying superiority complex.

So, I work at guitar center and the whole tag thing happens a lot. We slide the tag half way under the strings so the tags don't flip backwards, and then someone pulls it off to the wrong side, pulling it under other strings. It's never fun to fix. We definitely don't tie them under the strings.

That's the quietest I've ever heard that guitar center. I tend to go to the brentwood/cool springs one for that reason, and they're normally more friendly, but the selection isnt nearly as good.

I have been playing bass since I was 9 years old about 38 years and this video finally sold me on precision basses. Love Adam Almost's playing. Love that he is so deadpan and strict looking and impossibily dedicated and well practiced but is actually kind and lovely and has insane groove and funk. Top boy! Thank you for making this video.

The “scratch and dent” sales are a joke. Store in Houston was trying to sell a casino with a neck that was 70% cracked at the neck pocket for $50 off and refused to go under 350 when I tried to deal on it. The poor manager kinda had that “I know it’s fucked” attitude when the infamous green screen wouldn’t let him do better. As well as when we discussed how unethical it was to keep that on the shelf without disclosing it.

I work at a guitar center and the amount of sketchy shit that goes on behind the scenes here is insane it’s no wonder we go bankrupt every few years.
@coldwarmike
@coldwarmike 3 жыл бұрын
@@shorts-xb1op I worked at one from 08-10 full time and 11-12 part time and can only imagine how much worse it’s gotten with the several changes in ownership / corporate level leadership since. The end of my full time tenure was the transition of the first big change when the company merged with all the other online retailers / partners involved (vague terms so I don’t seem like I’m speaking out of my ass just remember they were bought or bought some brands around that time) It sucks because many old friends still work for the company or left and came back so I still see old coworkers at local stores and they know I know the gist of how it works and thus understand the limits of what they can and can’t do. The only real bummer is when I worked there it was understood that we were not to flaunt deals or cost flip products but buying something for a close friend now and again was no biggie and now even that seems locked down. So while I’d love to give my friends the sale they know I’m not paying 3x cost for something simple like a boost or OD pedal. Or a cheap piece of pro audio gear, etc. Like you said no wonder they go bankrupt every other quarter it seems. They really need to adopt the oops I opened the box policy some other stores have with the way old inventory sits waiting to be written off. Not to mention the dumpstering and destruction of stuff as stiff policy

I have the exact same bass, same color, same pickguard, neck, pu and everything. It was bought to give my trusty 1964 Precision a chance to retire. I bought the 1964's in 1979, and it served me well over all those years. I was stunned when I played the 1950's Precision. The neck was coated in a thick Poly finish, so after getting action, intonation and truss rod adjustment right, I had to get me some sanding paper to sand down most of the finish to give the neck a better feel. I play it with roundwounds until now, but I'll go and get a set of Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats, what will bring him even more to the feel and tone of its older Brother. Now, this bass feels like my good old one, the PU do sound a bit different, but I found a good substitute for my old one. Those '50's Precision Basses are really good instruments. I love mine a lot - and actually started using the P a lot more again in live situations, after some years of nearly playing only MusicMan StingRay basses, 5 and 4 strings, because I was like not really taking my old pal on stage anymore. I couldn't stand it if this one got lost or damaged. My 1964's Precision Bass will come with me and will be used in studio situations and for small gigs where I am able to keep an eye on the bass. There are so much memories in this bass. It was my main Instrument since I bought it, and it has seen a lot and could tell some weird storys.
