Fantastic explanation!! Hello friends, what is evident, due to the possibility of using these height supplements in the Neo-Pads, is that the Neo-Pads or base armor must be unfailingly rigid, right? Silverio, from Patagonian Argentine.

Yes the base of the spud is rigid, even if you put a metal shim underneath it. The three different heights of spuds should cover most manufacturer requirements.

Good afternoon l am a saxophonist and repair tech. I live in Guyana South America. There is nothing wrong with using a partial shim if there is a small gap at an end and it is sensible to do so. Good presentation otherwise.

Thank you so much for your kind comment! Sometimes partial shims will work but usually there are other issues working as well. One element to consider when shimming is making sure the pad cup and tone hole are level. If either of these are not level than a partial shim may be necessary to solve the problem, but does not fix the larger issue that could be happening. Using a full shim allows the pad to be thicker and maintains the pad's flatness. Thanks again!

What's stopping me from stocking neo pads is the ugly looking resonator and lack of the metal look resonators!!!

We made the decision to make the resonators out of plastic because that is the most common reso material and color from manufacturers. We are working on a metal resonator for the future but are concentrating on the plastic reso for now.
