I remember seeing them on MTV when I was in high school and they were a new band. There was some kind of segment where they did a featured new artist. I still vividly remember it because Hayley’s voice took my breath away! It’s so unique and strong and she has such control over it!

@@RecoveringEnginner Exactly! We have to end on 25! Though, I feel like to get a more well-rounded look of her sound I would trade Witches Burn for either House on a Hill or even something really simple like You. We need a slow jam, and I think House on a Hill has some really good commentary and a different take worthy of attention.

When I see you just perfectly replicate the arrangement of a song on piano mid song, it's like I'm there in the room while poets dicuss Shakespeare and all I can do is grunt and nod in agreement. You should check out anything from Brand New Eyes (Careful's my favorite, Turn it Off has the coolest breakdown, and the vocals on All I Wanted are insane). It's by far their best album - people keep recommending things from their first two albums and though they're great, it's not their best work.

Something about Paramore's recordings is that if you have a good enough pair of headphones- the songs are directional. You can hear the drums behind you, and you are standing in Hayley's place, you can hear the guitars on either side as well. the arrangement of where they are changes but the drums and hayley are always in the same place.

I think one of the most important parts of the melody writing in the song, is that the whoas have the same pitch and cadence of the childlike nana nana boo boo chant. If it's in with the that's what you get chant, and just the childlike innocence of a first heartbreak

I think Decode, My Heart, and the only exception would provide a tour of their different sounds. The only exception was their first love song because Haley never wanted to write one. My Heart was written by Zach and Josh and gives a nod to their Christian worship band roots, and Decode was from the Twilight soundtrack. I love Brick by boring brick, all I wanted, and playing god, but I think they tend to be in a similar style as other songs. It’s weird to hear you call their sound pop. I never really thought about it, they are signed to Fueled By Ramen during this era which I think automatically put them into alternative/emo/scene kinda. For your next 6 by, consider My Chemical Romance or Fallout Boy.

I love Paramore & love that you called it pop rock because I hate when people refer to anything as “pop punk.” Loving this 6 by series. I will say that around the time Paramore came out one of the things you heard a lot was, “how can such a huge voice come from somebody so tiny.” At the same time, I don’t think they work without Josh, Zac & Jeremy. Apparently there was always a rift between all of them & it comes to the forefront in their third album.
